Dr. Edmund Storms on Andrea Rossi’s Cold Fusion Technology: “We’ve Arrived.”
Free Energy Times ^ | March 5, 2011 | Free Energy Times

Posted on 03/05/2011 4:19:10 AM PST by Normandy

The website Cold Fusion Now is reporting about a recent interview conducted by James Martinez with physicist and researcher, Dr. Edmund Storms, formerly of the Los Alamos National Laboratory who is commenting on Andrea Rossi’s cold fusion technology. He has recently returned from the ICCF-16 conference in India where researchers in the field of low energy nuclear reaction discuss the latest research in the field.

Storms makes some interesting statements on the importance of Rossi’s technology, and is of the belief that it is a significant breakthrough which can have far reaching effects in the world of energy production. Here are some of his comments.

“It’s a major step. It doesn’t change the reality, the reality had already been established, but it has moved the debate from the laboratory into an industrial environment, and it’s put the phenomenon on the map now . . .

So, when do we get one powering our homes and cars?

So, when do we get one powering our homes and cars?

Never. Doesn't go along with the NEW WORLD ORDER plans.

I read about this nickel/hydrgen device a while back.
Now i’m getting a little excited about it.

Bingo. First, I’ve heard WAY too man of these claims to believe that it’s true just yet. Second, as soon as it actually DOES appear, the Left will acqiure just enough of a rudimentary knowledge of how it works to make it a pariah, just like every other energy source that promises to make our lives easier.

I wish I could help you with that. Right now I’d settle for some cold fusion power plants — if this turns out to be a real breakthough

You have to be desperate enough to want to believe that this is real, and then you have to have a device that puts so much energy out that you cannot ignore it, and you marry those two things together, and the skeptics are just blown away.”

We'll have them providing power as soon as someone actually makes it happen.

Some Italians made the claim again a few months ago in a press conference with little hwat-makes-it-work documentation.

If I see something other than an "that could be interesting" article and some real excitment across the news spectrum, I'll get my hopes up...

I believe the articles are stating 3 months for the very very first commercial small units (microwave oven size at 14KW) and a year for the megawatt version.

The first 1 MW plant is supposed to be built in Greece later this year, I believe. I have read that these units are being manufactured in Florida somewhere.

Oh-oh. I better hurry up and finish the Cold Fusion Reactor I've been building in my garage. I'm 'this close' from completion. All I need - by my calculations - is a fist sized piece of Plutonium.

Believe it or not but Plutonium is hard to find on eBay.
Maybe I should try 'craigslist'?

Interesting thing about this technology is that the key ingredients are nickel, hydrogen and some secret catalyst. Cheap materials, apparently.

I don't get it. I thought it was "settled science" that cold fusion was a scam. Who are these denialist energy birthers and why are they pushing on this string?

;)

'series', There was a Thread about a month ago on that. It was a paper published in Nature Magazine (iirc). And you're correct, they were all 'cheap materials', all commonly found in nature.

And if they can come up with an operational Cold Fusion Reactor, it'll be the biggest thing since the invention of the wheel, or man 'taming' fire.

In the full interview, there was an interesting exchange between the interviewer and Dr. Storms:

James then asked Dr. Storms what type of press did the Italians get on their demonstration.

Dr. Storms: “The Swedish newspapers, the Italian newspapers, the Greek newspapers, they showed an interest. The American newspapers showed none at all. It’s been on a number of blogs and talked about in a number of chat rooms, but no, it hasn’t reached a level of any serious importance to the American press.”

James: “Why do you think that is now?”

Dr. Storms: “Mainly because, it is institutionally the belief that cold fusion is not real, or if it is real, it’s so trivial, it’d make no difference to anybody. That’s institutional. It’s the myth that’s in, we’ll call it, the intellectual structure of the United States, and a number of other countries.

There a few countries where that’s not true, and Italy is one of them. The government there believes that it’s real, and they’re doing everything they can to develop it. The government in China believes it’s real an they’re doing everything they can to develop it.”
