Palin running will cause hundreds of qualified citizens to run for every office u can think of in local, state and national elections. From dog catcher to congressmen and senators. Regardless of if she wins her own race, she will help bring many more Te-Party minded canidates and winners with her. And that my friend is what the elite establishment in Washington fear the most.

Before you dismiss this as a poor argument consider that the US has 4 important borders, land borders with Canada and Mexico and sea borders with Cuba and Russia. No one would question that the governor of Florida would need to be knowledgeable about cultural, economic, military, and immigration matters in Cuba its neighbor 90 miles to the south. So why is there surprise and shock when the governor of Alaska claims similar knowledge about Russia, its neighbor only 2 and a half miles to the west? Adding to the mix is that over 15,000 sq. miles of that sea border have been in dispute for over 20 years. The reaction to Palin’s statement showed more about people’s ignorance about geography and Alaska than a poor argument by Palin.

Why would Thune back out if Palin were not running?
Months ago he made that a condition of him entering the fray.
As for Huckabee, it’s called seizing an opportunity. There are only two candidates who do really well with evangelicals: Huckabee and Palin. With Huckabee out, Palin has the field virtually to herself.
