Those inside the Beltway know Fred Grandys cheerful bright morning talk on WMAL-AM. Those outside the beltway know him as a Congressman, Gopher or star of the Monster Squad. But he somehow offended the thin sensibilities of the Council of American Islamic Relations, enough to get yanked off the air.
WMAL has a reputation for caving to this group. They did the same thing to Boston talker Michael Graham when he was at WMAL.

LMO, I heard Fred mention it on the air this morning, just before the show ended. He said that station management had told him to stop talking about radical Islam, and he was herewith refusing to stop.
The source you cited was reliable about the Michael Graham and Chris Plante firings from WMAL in the past few years, so I have no reason to doubt this.
That station is going to lose market share. Who the heck is going to listen to amiable, inoffensive, namby-pamby Brian Niemann? They’ve tried other experiments, including the disastrous Bill Press, and nothing worked for them except fireball morning drivetime hosts. Conservatives like some meat in the morning.
But if that source is reliable, he wasn’t “yanked off” the air, he had himself removed because he wanted out of his contract so he could go run for office again.
The source further suggests that he may have purposely defied the station regarding speaking about Islam so they would HAVE to fire him.
I’ll say this — Grandy was extremely anti-radical-Islam on his show, much more than Chris Core ever was, more than even Michael Graham was. If he was trying to get himself fired, he did a great job of it and of exposing the radical islam problem to his listeners at the same time.
If the posted DCRtv source is to be believed, I think this article gives WAY TOO MUCH CREDIT and power to CAIR. The source suggests Grandy pushed this to get out of his contract; that he has been able to say what he has said for the past few months shows that CAIR had lost a lot of it’s clout. Chris Core got kicked off for much less.
It’s early to know what the truth is. But Fred had ample opportunity to leave the show last year, when his charming senior partner Andy Parks was let go and Fred’s own job hung by a hair. This doesn’t have the feel of a brief stunt put on to get him out of his contract; Fred and his wife have been speaking out against radical Islam for quite a long time.
I wouldn’t use the word “stunt”. I don’t think he was insincere. But the DCRTV stories, all of them, suggest he wanted out of his contract.
How the hell has Chris Survived this?
Since the sheeple are not going to do anything about this one should prepare their younger children or grand children how to survive under Sharia law. It seems VERY apparent that this generation of lazies will not take action. (It makes me sick to hear fathers who say they would immediately kill a person that molested their daughter but then do nothing about stopping the inevitable of Islam taking over this nation)
If Grandy discussed RADICAL Islam, and CAIR is supposed to be the face of “MAINSTREAM” Islam, then why would CAIR have a problem with Grandy talking about RADICAL Islam?
(Admittedly, I have not heard CAIR profess to represent “mainstream” Islam, so who knows?)
Everything. The truth. For months.
The question is, how long will Chris survive this?
WMAL released a statement last night.
Was the staff at WMAL allowed to criticize the Nazis during World War II?
I suspect CAIR also detests Mrs Fred coming in and telling the truth.
That show is nothing without Fred.
This just went up today at the WMAL site:
“Fred Grandy has informed WMAL of his intention to resign from the station and its morning program, The Grandy Group. Veteran broadcast talent Bryan Nehman will continue to anchor the morning program and in the interim will be joined by several notable guest hosts and regular contributors. The stations morning show will also continue to provide the latest news, traffic and weather reports to its audience.
WMAL remains committed to its goal of providing a forum for discussing a broad spectrum of issues while delivering compelling programming including Chris Plante, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Mark Levin.”
No Fred again this morning. CAIR got its way with the Disney owned wmal. And Neiman, the lightweight liberal, still has a voice hard to listen to.
