At Clinton Speech: Veteran Bloodied, Bruised & Arrested for Standing Silently As Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gave her speech at George Washington University yesterday, condemning governments that arrest protestors and do not allow free expression, 71-year-old Ray McGovern was grabbed from the audience in plain view of her by police and an unidentified official in plain clothes, brutalized and left bleeding in jail. She never paused speaking. When Secretary Clinton began her speech, Mr. McGovern remained standing silently in the audience and turned his back. Mr. McGovern, a veteran Army officer who also worked as a C.I.A. analyst for 27 years, was wearing a Veterans for Peace t-shirt. Blind-sided by security officers who pounced upon him, Mr. McGovern remarked, as he was hauled out the door, So this is America? As you see, Mr. McGovern is covered with bruises, lacerations and contusions inflicted in the assault.

I’m spitting nails. This is something Andrew Breitbart would get mad over as well or Michelle Malkan...or anyone for that matter. I’m going to pass it around.
I just read your thread. I got so mad I just posted immediately... Yes, there must be something more to the story. Thanks.

You have a remarkably low bar on what constitutes “disruption”
At the time, there was no indication as to where this occurred. Now that the George Washington University campus appears to be the venue, it's not all that surprising. That's because the president of GWU has been cozy with the Clintons going back to before the duo arrived in Washington. It's telling that the usually passive campus police were overly aggressive at HRC's event. The guess here is that they had gotten special "zero tolerance" orders in advance.
Your probably right about the zero tolerance. We all remember the clinton years. I would think this man could sue GWU. He looked pretty roughed up to me.
I am amazed by the number of stupid posts on this thread.
If you paid money to go see a musical or theatrical performance held before a seated audience and the patron sitting in front of you stood up and turned his back to the stage, your experience would be disrupted and you would want the standing person removed. There would be no question about whether that person had some "free speech" right to stand or whether you should just accept the disruption.
Only stupidity prevents you from understanding that the same thing is happening here.
What I have a low bar for is irrational, tendentious nonsense.
You are not entitled to determine how much of my money you may take from me by force before that taking constitutes theft.
Theft starts at the first penny.
I think that the Veterans for Peace are an off shoot of the John Kerry veteran supporters, formerly Vietnam Veterans, part of the Peace and Justice League which is also related to Code Pink.
These people have now taken over veterans groups, claiming that they want to help returning Iraq and Afghanistan Vets re-acclimate to society. They are led locally by a guy name, Evan Knappenberger.
Last summer, when Knappenberger was all over our local paper, I was doing some research on him and came across some posts by the Peace and Justice group at Evergreen State College (alma mater of Rachel Corrie), introducing Knappenberger to the WWU Peace and Justice group, referring to Knappenberger as the Cindy Sheehan replacement. So, I now refer to Knappenberger as the new Cindy Sheehan.
See post #38.
As a proud member of “Veterans for Peace,” I assume he IS a liberal.
