The Ten Poorest US Cities... and Why
Reaganite Republican ^ | February 14, 2011 | Reaganite Republican

% living below the poverty level:

1.  Detroit ,  MI              32.5%
2.  Buffalo , NY             29.9%
3. Cincinnati , OH        27.8%
4  Cleveland , OH        27.0%
5. Miami , FL                 26.9%
6. St. Louis , MI            26.8%
7. El Paso , TX             26.4%
8. Milwaukee , WI        26.2%
9. Philadelphia , PA    25.1%
10. Newark , NJ           24.2%

What do these top ten cities (pop over 250,000) with the highest poverty rate all have in common...?

Detroit, MI hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1961.

Buffalo , NY  hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1954.

Cincinnati , OH  hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1984.

Cleveland , OH  hasn't elected a Republican mayor  since 1989.

Miami , FL  has never had a Republican  mayor.

St. Louis , MO  hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1949.

El Paso , TX  has never had a Republican mayor.

Milwaukee , WI  hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1908.

Philadelphia , PA  hasn'telected a Republican mayor since 1952.

Newark , NJ  hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1907.

Einstein once said, 'The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different  results. Yet, it is the poor who habitually elect Democrats...
while they REMAIN PERPETUALLY POOR!

Abraham Lincoln:

"You  cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.

You  cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.

You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging  thrift.

You cannot lift the wage earner up by  pulling the wage payer down.

You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.

You  cannot build character and courage by taking away people's  initiative and independence.

You cannot help  people permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves."

And Mr Obama, you are no Abe Lincoln...
Reagan either, you fraud

And Abraham Lincoln didn't say any of those things:

Hint: it was Rev. William John Henry Boetcker.

However, Lincoln did say:

That some should be rich, shows that others may become rich, and hence is just encouragement to industry and enterprise. Let not him who is houseless pull down the house of another; but let him labor diligently and build one for himself, thus by example assuring that his own shall be safe from violence when built.

This is a good one for anyone who seriously wants to bring their kids up right.

Just my opinion of course.

Actually....the poverty figures for these top 10 cities prove that Free Trade and Free Trade Communism does not work

The majority of these cities are either on the border (Canada, Mexico), or, are cities with or near major ports.

If Free Trade Communism “works”, as the Free Trade Communists claim....these cities should be the least poverty-stricken.

So much for NAFTA and Free Trade with Communist China working.

Free Trade Communism? I think its because most of them have NFL teams, proving what a drag a pro football team is on the economy. Same logic.

I don’t care who said ‘em, these are good guidelines by which to make public policy decisions. They are the backbone of Conservatism.

Which is why El Paso is there and San Diego is not? Horse hockey. Most trade, even in towns close to the border is domestic.

>>>The majority of these cities are either on the border (Canada, Mexico), or, are cities with or near major ports.

Here’s an even better “post hoc, ergo propter hoc”:

The majority of these cities’ names occur in the first half of the alphabet.

Finding causality is a real B****.

Yea, as if the highest major city (San Jose) would be democrat run... Or wait it has been for decades..

Finding causality is a real B****, for both sides!

It’s more appropriate to look at the majority of those as Rust belt and ask why? certainly local leadership has a lot to do with it but so does the flight of industry. And that has to do with over-regulation from the dems and free trade sellout from the republicans.

That has been circulated many times and the “facts” about Republican Mayors has many errors. One example, Miami has had GOP Mayors and both the City & County Mayors are Republicans at present.
