Layla. My all time most favorite song.

The piano riff is the best ever in all of history.

Thanks for positing this thread.

Having Duane Allman play on most of the album was a stroke of genius.

One of the very few 70’s albums that has aged well.

( Who’s Next is another one)

Layla... and Exile... are two testaments to the unfortunate truth that rock musicians record their greatest work while strung out on heroin.

Personally, I liked Clapton’s version of Little Wing better than Hendrix.

Wonder if Clapton is friends with Patti these days? Wonder if Patti and Jane Asher are still friends.

Maybe Paul should consider dating Jane again, she’s a much nicer girl than the last one.

To this day I think Clapton has an extra joint in his fingers.

This sole album produced as Derek and the Dominos -hailed by critics and fans alike for songs such as 'Bell Bottom Blues', 'Layla', and 'Wonderful Tonight'- is widely considered to be the defining achievement of Clapton's career.

"Wonderful Tonight" was neither a defining achievement of Clapton's career nor on this album. It came out seven years later on "Slowhand." Like the song "Layla," however, it was inspired by Patti Boyd. Also, I believe there are singles versions of "Layla" that came out much later that have "Wonderful Tonight" on the B side.

My only complaint of Layla(and Hey Jude for that matter), is it goes on. Repeating the same 4 bars over and over for the last 5(seems like) mins is tedious.

Best Clapton guitar riff ever is from "Badge" when he was with Cream. So simple, so incredible.

One of my favorite live albums of all time is the Rainbow Concert with Clapton, Steve Winwood, Ron Wood, Pete Townshend and many other greats. Little Wing live is awesome.
