I’m new to the Senate but I’m not new to this battle. Since the days of Roe v. Wade, when I clerked for Justice Blackman, as a state legislator, as attorney general, I have fought this battle.

He did clerk for Justice Blackmun. I suppose you’re point is that it wasn’t during the days of Roe v Wade? Is that the point?

“I miss spoke” is commonly used when a politician is caught lying, except for Obozo and the Clintons. They know that everybody knows they are lying but they keep lying.

“Since the days of Roe v. Wade,” meaning “days,” as in around that time, not “day,” the exact time, which is true. That’s how he’ll technically get off. Of course the insinuation here is that he worked on the Roe v. Wade case. Lying without technically lying, a hallmark of almost all politicians.
