How about the choir / glee club from the service academy that wins the Army / Navy game gets the anthem gig that year but the zoomies get it if they beat both teams in the regular season.
That’s a great idea.
Maybe they just could rotate the gig among the three.
Well other than that the game itself was (uncharacteristically) exciting, not overly or under officiated, and was close and almost historic (the highest lead ever overcome in SBowl history Redskins 10 pts was almost beaten by the Steelers with an 11 pt deficit).
Kudos to the Steelers for not packing it in after a 11 pt deficit.
Usually the Superbowl has to be about the Anthem, the Half Time Show, and the Commercials because the game itself is a blowout and the second half one team is already celebrating and the other team is already crying - with an hour of football left to play!
This one all that other stuff stank.
So good thing there was some excitement on the field!!!
Hey! Don't you think she could have written some crib notes on her hand????

Might as well add Christina’s failed version as well:

She looks better in that pic. At the Superbowl, she looked like she’d just had a Clorox bleach job at the 99 cent beauty salon.
Could've fooled me. I had to mute the volume her "singing" of our National Anthem was so offensive to me.
The Star Spangled Banner is in three, not four.
Cheers!
The Black Eyed Peas inserted some pro-Obama lyrics into their songs ...
lol. I saw that on a separate post.
Just dumb.
Christina Aguilera is not alone in anthem flub club

EXCERPT :
The Star Spangled Banner has stumped plenty of singers, and a recent Harris Poll found that two-thirds of Americans don’t know the lyrics. But the song has been especially embarrassing for high-profile entertainers.
Singer Michael Bolton needed crib notes to complete a rendition at baseball’s 2003 American League Championship Series.
At 2001’s Indianapolis 500, Aerosmith rocker and American Idol judge Steven Tyler blanked on “home of the brave,” ad-libbing “home of the Indianapolis 500.”
Macy Gray garbled lyrics at 2001’s Pro Football Hall of Fame exhibition game. R&B singer Keri Hilson botched some words at a Los Angeles Lakers game March 31.
Mike Eli of the Eli Young Band tripped on a verse, started over and repeated the gaffe at an NFL game hosted by the Kansas City Chiefs Dec. 5.
It is in 3/4 time :)
You’re right. But Jones still fired Landry and has bad cosmetic surgery. Other than that,.....he’s may be semi OK.
The stadium is an impressive architectural and enginering achievement. If you don’t get killed by ice falling off the roof.
Ahh, that’s too bad. Because Amy Grant is a good person and began with Gospel songs...maybe she has gone back to her beginnings...I think I read somewhere where she had. Her dress I think was most appropriate especially for California. She looked very nice...not like she didn’t care or anything.
I don’t know if the event will be rerun but perhaps it might. Maybe some other Freepers will know better than me. I’m glad you are open to reconsider. She really IS a good person and don’t think she would ever do anything to bring disrespect on such an event as was on TV. Go to the Amy Grant Wikipedia and read about her personal life. She is currently married to Vince Gill and they have one daughter but she had a marriage prior to that with children as well. It was an awesome event and we loved it.
Agreed. He’s supposedly some business genius and at the last moment the Fire Marshall closed seating? This wasn’t worked out weeks ago?
He’s a typical egomanical billionaire that will help ruin the NFL like baseball was ruined and basketball was taken over by gangs.
Achievement? Tell that to those that, at the LAST MINUTE were told they didn’t have seats.
