Herman Cain isn't a widely known figure, but he's long had a radio show on the conservative talk station WSB in Atlanta, and a new Georgia poll of 379 likely GOP primary voters pops up a surprising result:
Huckabee: 19% Gingrich: 18% Romney: 14% Cain: 14% Palin: 11% Pawlenty: 3% Barbour: 2% Daniels: 1% Some other candidate: 3%
Read why Herman Cain is our guy here: Raising Cain: The Untold Story of the GOPs last best hope, Herman Cain
And read more about the Georgia Poll here: Cain Beats Palin in Georgia Polling
Palin, 11% in Georgia amongst likely Republican voters? That’s remarkable.
In before the folks who will say it is another BS poll. If Palin had beaten Cain, it would be a legit poll.
PING!
Really? The hometown guy does well in polls in his state? What a revelation. How does Cain do in AK? This is the same thinking that has DeMint ahead in the polls for Pres in his state.
Because polls right now are so meaningful being that hardly anyone has declared they’re running yet and the real campaigning hasn’t even started.

I’m happy to see Cain poll well but I’m disappointed to see my fellow Georgians putting Huck, Newt and Mitt at the top of the list.
Cain’s my #1 choice! :)
“Huckabee: 19% Gingrich: 18% Romney: 14%”
If this is an accurate survey of Republican sentiment, we’re cooked.
All three of these clowns would be disasters—open borders and nanny staters, all.
I actually have never said anything like that. Polls are meaningless right now. Who cares who comes out on top now? Even when they truly reflect a moment in time you have to see the internals to see out accurate the numbers are.

The Palin haters tell everyone who will listen that Palin does not stand a chance of being elected. She is a weak candidate, has no experience, has ingrowing toenails, bad breath, and probably snores while she sleeps.
My question is, if she is such a bad candidate, has no chance of winning, then why is the candidacy of every other candidatecy copmpared against her?

I doubt 99.9% of those polled favored Cain because he was the hometown guy. They favored Cain because they know who he is and what he stands for.
Believe it or not, Georgians have a few working brain cells.
In another large survey, I polled Mrs. 2ndDivisionVet, Apollo the Dog, Sir Eats A Lot (My stepson) and the 8 Indian grad students across the hall. Palin won.
Huck and Newt?
More evidence that Republican voters are nothing more than Dem-lite. The GOP is dead, they just don’t know it yet.
Conservatives need their own party of like-minded.
“Im disappointed to see my fellow Georgians putting Huck, Newt and Mitt at the top of the list”
Same here.
Spot on. Everyone’s running against Palin, yet they don’t act as if she’s the lead dog in the pack. It’s hilarious.
You don't have to be stupid to have a natural tendency to side with the hometown guy. I said no such thing. I generally root for Rick Santorum even though he says some stupid things. It's natural. The other factor is name recognition. He recently ran for statewide office. People will immediately identify him in a list or be able to recall him positively.
Not all Georgians have working brain cells unfortunately. I have caught an episode or two of "The Real Housewives of Atlanta". I assume they are Dims though.
It’s still, very, very early, Palin hasn’t even campaigned or declared her intent to run. Cain’s a good guy, but I’m excited about Palin right now.
The numbers...... you have Palin at 14% and s/b 11%
Huckabee: 19%
Gingrich: 18%
Romney: 14%
Cain: 14%
Palin: 11%
Pawlenty: 3%
Barbour: 2%
Daniels: 1%
Some other candidate: 3%
