Recently appointed Egyptian Vice President Omar Suleiman has told state-run television that other countries should stay out of Egypt's unrest. The former general was very clear that Mubarak was not going anywhere, while making some small concessions. It is also notable that Suleiman would not rule out running for President in planned elections in September.
Suleiman attempted to play to both the nationalist and pro-government sides in his interview, stating seemingly contradictory claims. This has been reported by BBC. He said that it is unlikely for Hosni Mubarak's son Gamal to run for the Presidency. He also called upon protesters to be "punished" and blamed them for economic troubles:
Another headline from Vice-President Suleiman's state TV interview: he says the country has lost "at least $1bn" in tourism revenue and one million tourists have left during the turmoil.
Suleiman did, however, welcome talks with the main opposition force in Egypt, the Muslim Brotherhood. The Brotherhood has significant ties with other terrorist groups in the region and has called for war with Israel.

In related news, some folks feel we need to stop worrying about the Muslim Brotherhood and just accept that they will be part of the future of Egypt.
While I will never quit worrying about the Muslim Brotherhood assuming the leading role in the Egyptian government (and that of other middle eastern countries), I feel like it is inevitable (and regretable)that they will achieve this in the end.
Thanks a lot, Obama.
But don’t they know Obama is a Muslim brother?
Obama has ushered in his Brothers to power in Egypt. Wow!
More signs that Obummer has lost Egypt through his Carter style incompetence. Does anyone believe the Rag Heads would be doing this if Bush were still involved in his “Cowboy” foreign policy?
And this is the way his Muslim brother in arms repays him?
Thanks to the violence, that money isn't coming back, possibly for decades.
BS propaganda, Sulieman is trying to make it ‘appear’ that Obama is several degree’s away from all this.
That is not the case.
Omar Suleiman is NOT a Vice President.
Omar Suleiman is the mastermind behind a system of torture centers and extrajudicial murderers that number in the tens of thousands throughout Egypt.
Omar Suleiman is the evilest man in the Egyptian elite, outright responsible for the murders, torture, disappearances, rapes and exiling of tens of thousands of dissidents in the last 15 years.
Just keep that in mind when world leaders including American leaders come out to defend this scumbag to defend their own interests in Egypt.
He is the Egyptian equivalent of “Chemical Ali” in Iraq.
He should be in front of the Hague for Crimes against Humanity.... instead the world elite are rallying around him to maintain the Middle East power structure.
Oh, I am well aware. Obama has been setting the stage for this for some time. Only an idiot is blind to that fact.
Maybe the arrests of journalists is the first step in that.
Sounds like Suleiman took a lesson from Obama.
