Hilarious.....as Dave alludes to in this post, the MSM is begging to help Obama out but the man, and his administration, just won't let them.

Transparency:

White House reporters criticized President Obama on Wednesday for providing too little information and access to the media during the crisis in Egypt.

In a letter to White House press secretary Robert Gibbs, the White House Correspondents' Association said its reporters have been left in the dark too often in recent days.

“Prior to the president's statement Tuesday night, the press corps had not received a substantive update from the White House all day on the situation in Egypt,” the letter read. “In addition, the press corps did not have an on-camera briefing, or an off-camera gaggle, with you yesterday to ask the White House about its decision-making process during this major foreign policy crisis.

“Now for two straight days the full press pool is being shut out of events that have typically been open and provided opportunities try to ask the [president] a question."

If you hadn't heard. The Press Secretary, Robert Gibbs, is history....Dana Milbank isn't holding out much more hope for his replacement:

Why should Obama bother to be transparent? The press is in his pocket because they chose to be in his pocket. They are mesmerized by him and he knows it. So why be transparent? The Press won't turn on him and, in 2012, the press will be right there leading his reelection campaign. The press has, like so much else in America, become a joke...

Another way to see it:

The MSM is lazy. They want the administration to give them a news breaking press release every hour. The MSM then copies and prints the press release as news. But Clinton and Obama are learning it is sometimes better to keep their mouths shut.

Behind this is the premise of the MSM that the Obama administration should be activist on Egypt. But maybe it is the Egyptians on YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, etc that are driving events ... and making the MSM irrelevant.

Flipping channels last night and day - (snow, ice etc) I was struck how many excuses, rationales and defenses were made for Obie by the vaunted steely eyed guardians of the public trust.

They couldn’t deflect culpability from Obie fast enough.

As Brian Williams said ...”I’m not trying to defend him, but....”, and then proceeded to defend him, like Andrea, Rachel, Larry, Ed, Anderson, Wolf, Lemon etc etc.
