This is the most recent UPDATE with the links to the latest articles from the local news media, videos, radio, image galleries, and Cyclone Advisory Notices. The Cyclone is now almost 250 miles inland from Cairns, and moving towards Mount Isa. So far, the most thankful thing is that there have been no reported casualties. Damage however, is horrendous.
The cyclone, aka hurricane, hit Australia with such force that the country/continent now has a new time zone.
That thing is horrendous. I pray for all the people in the path, and they have suffered so much already.
I am trying like heck to use my Google-fu to get a clear picture of what it looks like — NOAA just doesn’t seem to be producing useful images for me.
Anyone have anything that we can use?
Prayers for all in its path - from what I can tell, this is Katrina squared.
Thank God the Aussies aren’t the welfare-wussies from NOLA. They’ll marshal through.
My Google-fu didn’t fail me on 2nd attempt:
This is a broadcast of what Yasi looks like — and it is fierce and huge!!

For comparison purposes.
Thanks — based on the comments it looks like the Aussies see this as just a strong breeze that might delay the barbie...
Seriously.
media does hype things up I guess....everywhere....Globally!
