Good news: union membership continues to fall endangering Democrats in 2012

History tells us forcing the Soviets into an arms race they could not win was ultimately what brought them to their end. We “bled them to death” by outspending them.

Newly released Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data suggests we have an opportunity to “bleed out” the parasitical labor unions that are impeding our recovery efforts both politically and in terms of our national economic health.

For the first time in the sixty years it has been keep track, the BLS has found that aggregate union membership (both private and public sector workers) has fallen below 12% in our country.

In the private sector we are clearly winning this fight, but our victories are being somewhat offset by creeping growth in public sector unionization where the percentage of unionized workers has risen almost 4 points in one year and now stands at 40%.

Back to the good news

In 2008 the rate of private sector unionized workers was 7.6%. Today it has slipped to 6.9% with no prospects for growth. This decline bodes very well for the next election cycle because as their numbers dwindle, the amount of the cash Labor can spend to steal our freedoms dwindle. Nevertheless if history repeats, Labor will bleed itself out financially in a desperate return the Democrats in power.

Money can’t always buy elections

Last election cycle, The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees spent a reported $50 million and the Service Employees International Union spend about $48 million in their futile efforts to save their Democrat employees. “……..they are beginning to realize the party is over.”

The big spending SEIU poured money into the coffers of dozens of liberal Democrats: Almost all of them lost. Fortunately, the money spent on those races produced nothing….

For years I have been reading about the decline of the MSM, and yet they still control political stories and even elections. [Soetoro’s victory said more about the MSM pimping for him than about what a great candidate/politician he is.]

The decline in union membership and influence has also been an ongoing story. I hope there’s more teeth in it than in the Death of the Dinosaur Media story.

I doubt it. In our area, Safeway is going to build a dozen or more new stores which will be staffed by union workers.

It seems like the only businesses left to be built and grow are the union businesses.

I hear you. I’m normally pretty optimistic, but I’m getting a little worn out waiting for the waning influence of the MSM to actually kick in as a force in American politics. It seems as if the MSM’s death grip on the news the average voter gets is more ironclad than ever. Will the decline of the unions be any more precipitous? The two most frequent guests at Soetoro’s white hut have been union bosses. How will their influence recede as 2012 approaches?

I’m expecting government to frantically start funding all manner of union jobs public and private.

Isn’t that what all these bailouts are really about?

Don’t they use the money to benefit their supporters and maintain the voter farm?

History tells us forcing the Soviets into an arms race they could not win was ultimately what brought them to their end. We “bled them to death” by outspending them.

The death of the USSR was a ruse. They simply regrouped under different colors. They learned that Communism is a terrible economic system but it is still a great system for controlling the masses. The leaders didn't disappear they just kept the leadership reins and took over the major industries, such as oil and power, with their buds in charge.

The same is what they are attempting with the labor unions. As labor unions in private industry decline they increase their membership in government by growing the government. The government has also started taking over private industry, GM, Chrysler, the financial institutions, and through their special relationships with GE and others.

Card Check, if they ever get it passed is another approach to Communism, as the unions really are, by making everyone a union member so that all are in the same boat.

Why do the Communist nations want to take over the USA? Because we make Communism look bad in comparison to free enterprise. Rather than adopting free enterprise, because freedom is required, they try to discredit it, subvert it and take it over. That is where we are now.

Communism has always been about the few controlling the many. They achieve it through lies and deception because they can't defeat good ideas with their bad ideas. Power is their aim, deception is their game.

Exactly. As Rush as pointed out, all the big bailout cash Soetoro has exacted is just a vast slush fund to reward his base. Much of the money remains ‘unspent’ [in the sense that borrowed and yet-to-be-printed ‘money’ can be anything at all]. As 2012 approaches, Soetoro’s pals can look forward to a field day, and the unemployment numbers will ‘magically’ decline.

The MSM and the unions ARE in decline! That is the free market at work. A few, it is always the few, have taken over our cultural organizations slowly and stealthily. There has always been a lot of money behind the scenes influencing that. At first it was Armand Hammer and associates and now it is Soros and his gang.

However, competing ideas always defeat them. So, they must eliminate competing ideas. That is why they are now pushing to control the internet and talk radio. AM radio was dead before Rush Limbaugh came along and spawned some others. The MSM was doing fine as long as they were the only choice. Now the internet is offering another choice.

When there is choice the Left loses.
