Very interesting read on the history of the Muslim Brotherhood, from a former CIA insider. The author ties many historical events together in a cause-effect chronological format.

This is from 2006, so it offers a less bandwagon-driven view than we are seeing from the useful idiots in media who say the Muslim Brotherhood is composed of "moderates".

It renders predictable the events of today, knowing there are about 600,000 Muslim Brotherhood members in Egypt.

Also reinforces Bush 43's worldview, which frankly surprised me and offered a softer tone to the article: "...The Wahhabiism was only practiced by two nations, the Taliban and Saudi Arabia. That's how extreme it is. It really has nothing to do with Islam. Islam is a very peaceful and tolerant religion."

Scary times ahead, as scary as Iran '79, maybe much worse when we factor in this White House.

We might consider whether El Baradei was Obama’s guy all along. Presumably preordained given his UN credential and Nobel prize...so he’s cozy with the MB -what could go wrong? /sarc

He had me until he claimed that islam is a peaceful religion. Tht calls into question his entire story. If he misunderstands islam so badly how can we believe anything he says?

Everyone thinks that Islam is this fanatical religion, but it is not. They think that Islam -- the Saudi version of Islam -- is typical, but it's not. The Wahhabi cult was condemned as a heresy more than 60 times by the Muslim nations. But when the Saudis got wealthy, they bought a lot of silence. This is a very harsh cult. The Wahhabiism was only practiced by two nations, the Taliban and Saudi Arabia. That's how extreme it is. It really has nothing to do with Islam. Islam is a very peaceful and tolerant religion. It has always had good relationships with the Jews for the first thousand years of its existence.

I don't know about how factual the rest of Loftus's expose is (and it sounds plausible) but.....

I STOPPED reading when I came to the above quote.

For someone supposedly as informed and erudite when it comes to "Islam," that statement reflects his naivete or woeful ignorance re: the "Religion of--'REST IN'--Peace!"

A good novel on this topic is “The Haj” by Leon Uris.

It has a thread on the Muslim Brotherhood, the Grand Mufti, and the Nazis, from the 1920s through the 1960s.

In the late 1940s the brotherhood had over 2 million members, due to collaboration and support from the Nazis.

The connection of Islam to the Nazis is old news:

The Grand Mufti, for example, went to Germany during the war and helped recruit an international SS division of Arab Nazis. They based it in Croatia and called it the "Handjar" Muslim Division, but it was to become the core of Hitler's new army of Arab fascists that would conquer the Arab peninsula from then on to Africa -- grand dreams

Its "Handzar", and in addition to Handzar there was also the Skanderbeg division which comprised of Albanians. We screwed the people of the Balkans in more ways than one in the past 70 years, first we left them to the whims of the communists by supporting Tito during WWII and then by backing Islamic terrorists in Bosnia back in the 90's.

When will the US department of state quit f***ing around and recognize the real enemy instead of enabling them?
