There's something cryptic and elusive about Krauthammer, like the coy Waldo in the famous puzzle. (And don't miss Steve Green on "Krauthammer Correcting Krauthammer." )
Charles Krauthammer has long been recognized as one of Americas most astute and authoritative political columnists, acknowledged as a cut above the majority of his scrivening colleagues. And yet there is something cryptic and elusive about him, like the coy Waldo in the famous puzzle. Perhaps he resents being put in boxes and wishes to preserve his independence of judgment, or his unpredictability.
Still, one detects a growing tendency to pronounce upon critical affairs without sufficient grounding in the penetralia of things along with a positional inconsistency that renders him at times maddeningly unlocatable, like a slippery electron in a split-screen experiment.
In other words, it is becoming increasingly difficult to determine where he can be reliably found on the ideological scale. Is he a conservative, a centrist, a situational libertarian, or all of these at different times? Is he a fiscal conservative like Terry Corcoran and, simultaneously, a social liberal like Alan Dershowitz? He is certainly far to the right of the New York Times, as any thinking person must be, but then he writes for the ultra-liberal Washington Post. Does he share a secret sympathy with choice portions of its editorial line or is he the papers resident conservative, whose purpose is to impart a semblance of impartiality?

1) Unreliable conservative governed by elitist need to remain on the inside. 2)Articulate political windsock. 3) Unshakable RINO promoter.
Always read him and still do. But, that may come to an end soon. On some topics he is starting to sound like Dick Lugar. As a Hoosier, don’t need to listen to two of those.
I understood your comment as a compliment to CK (not the underwear guy).

I’m a lib?
bwahahahaha
Try it sometime. In the first moments, they’ll wonder if it’s a death notice — or threat. ;)
The New Republic and Time are leftist publications.>>>>>
When Charles Krauthammer was at The New Republic it was fairly centrist. I used to read it back then and found good material. It is fargone liberal now
CK’s my favorite gun-grabbing shrink, but that’s not saying much, since I loathe gun-grabbers and shrinks on principle. When he’s neither, he’s usually good. Usually.
And then there’s his opinion of Palin. It’s no shame to change one’s mind, Charles... Say she has grown. Say she’s the best of the batch. But revise while you may. We are prepared to welcome you to the light.
Yes Krauthammer is married and has two daughters IIRC. You can find that on the internet http://www.google.com/search?q=Krauthammer+is+married&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&client=firefox-a&rlz=1R1GGLL_en___US393
TNR on its own wouldn’t raise too many suspicions, but when working for Carter and Mondale and Time are factored in, along with his views on the Second Amendment . . . one must pause and contemplate.
. . . an elitist $h!+head ,,, is that close enough ???
He’s in love with Obama.
Obama .... low and slow.... alright. To me this guy is an ignorant buffoon. (I didn't say baboon). If he gets 50 extra points for that, where did he start 10? This guy can't put a one sentence thought together without 4 ahs and 6 pauses. The only time what he says is perfectly clear is when he says “Let me be perfectly clear”. That is the most words he can string together without an ah or a pause. But then again he has practiced that phrase quite a bit.
Just listening to this maroon, how can anyone claim he is intelligent? We can't see his college records or grades. Bill Ayers wrote his books. Speech writers write his speeches. Where is the evidence? His unscripted, or off the cuff remarks are filled with gaffs.
The proof of his superior intelligence is in a lock box with his birth certificate. But the box is EMPTY.

No suggestion that perhaps drilling here might be beneficial.
He can be spectacularly wrong sometimes.
>> Methinks this article was overwrotten <<
You said it. About halfway thru reading the item, I decided it would be a better use of my time to count the number of Angels who can fit on the head of a pin.
“An inside the Beltway RINO has-been.”
That nails it. I could say more, but ‘nuff said.
“”Ultimately, a civilized society must disarm its citizenry if it is to have a modicum of domestic tranquility of the kind enjoyed by sister democracies such as Canada and Britain.”
Domestic tranquility such as Britain?? Does he mean where a homeowner gets imprisoned for fighting back against thugs who invade a home and attack the resident?
Thank you, good doctor, but if Britain is your idea of “civilized”, I think I will pass.
LOL they are in the 50’s now, it won’t work with them. Could have used that info about 45 years ago.
Wrong, wrong, wrong. Sarah’s voice is perfect for her. It is sweet and high and charming. Her accent reminds people of Marge Gunderson - the beloved heroine of Fargo. Why in the world would she change it?
Rush is currently running an ad (I’ll find out the product) in which the female who reads the copy sounds EXACTLY like Sarah. I made my husband listen to it and he agreed completely. Now why would advertisers go out and hire an actress who sounded like Sarah? Because she’s so badly spoken? No! It’s because it’s charming and appeals to the conservatives who listen to his show.
Sarah needs to be Sarah - not some remade, plastic version that so many people (particularly men) demand of her.
Well 0bama’s a special case, isn’t he? Affirmative action standards apply. He gets 50 points there too!
But if he’d talked like Jesse Jackson, where would he be now? Not in the White House.
0bama has nailed the philosopher king act, with a supportive backup chorus of the msm and academics and that prosthetic TOTUS he probably showers with. All the hosannas and rose petals his worshippers can produce, would not suffice if he hadn’t the vocal talent — and the electronic crutch.
Eventually, perhaps, more people will hear the uh-uh-uh’s, and begin to discern that the substance beneath the show is minimal.
