Tea Partier: Alert the captain! There's a huge iceberg up ahead and we're headed straight for it! If we don't turn the ship aside now, we're doomed!
Liberal: Well, that's not a very popular message. I mean, turning the ship aside would require interrupting the shuffleboard tournament.
Tea Partier: The whole ship is going to be shuffling off to the bottom of the ocean if we don't change course!
Liberal: You're probably just saying that because the captain's black.
Tea Partier: What? That's crazy!
Liberal: That's exactly what a racist would say in this situation.
Tea Partier: What does not wanting to hit an iceberg have to do with hating our captain because he's black?
Liberal: For someone who doesn't hate black people, you sure do talk about racism and the captain being black a lot....

No, no, no! Bush did it! Sheesh...
Brilliant.
Actually there had to be a bunch of liberals aboard the Titanic. We know this because the number of “men” that made it into the life boats ahead of women and children.
I doubt very seriously that the conservatives put themselves first.
I got news for you, buddy... that's not why he's dressed as a woman.
My reaction is that you are probably wrong. If the ship had hit straight on, it would have probably crushed like an accordion. Even if it had remained afloat the deaths on board may have been total.
Having said that, I am reminded of a full page ad I saw in Life magazine about forty two years ago. The ad was run by a company named Sperry-Rand. It was a nice picture taken of Prince Edward Sound in Alaska from the bridge of one of those Oil Super Tankers.
The caption at the bottom read: "If you are driving something that takes 7 miles to stop and 26 miles to turn around; you'd better know where you are going.".
I compare that view with the U.S. ship of state. In my opinion, we are already inside of the 7 mile range.
A liberal would have defended blacks ... in 1912?
Actually, my statement comes from naval architect Edward Wilding of Harland & Wolff. After designer Thomas Andrews he knew the most about the ship and said as much at the British inuuiry of the loss if 1912.
Also, both the “Florida” who rammed a berg head on in 1909 survived with just the bow crumpled and a small loss of life, as did the “Stockholm” which rammed and sank the “Andrea Doria” in 1957.
And here I thought the sinking was Jamie Brockett’s fault.
YOU GOTTA LET IT OUT, CAPTAIN.
good!
Iron >>> Ice. :)
Clearly the Titanic should have broke the iceberg! It’s all so clear now.
Bush and Cheney teleported with Halliburton's weather machine* through a wormhole in time just to cause global warming and create the iceberg that he steered into the Titanic to kill black people. Because Bush hates black people.
First class passengers were much more likely to survive, particularly women and children.
Men had a much higher overall death rate.
By no means did all men who survived do so at the expense of women and children. Many were pulled from the water after the ship went down.
Found an excellent tabulation of the death vs. survival by various statistical categories.

Before sneering at the men on the Titanic, ask yourself what would be likely to happen in a similar situation today.
Also, since women are demanding equality today, does it even make sense to continue the old "women and children" first rule? Children, sure, but absolutely equal in all things women? Surely it would be sexist to put them first.
Fare-thee-well Titanic, fare-thee-well! (I walked around the wheelhouse once...)
