Overpopulation: Should we take extreme measures?
James Cameron's Avatar Wikia ^ | January 27, 2010

There are too many of us already, and we must not let our numbers grow even further beyond what Earth's resources can provide. If we want to keep/improve our current standard of living, those who are able should take precautions. A few of the more extreme ideas (i.e. killing off "unnecessary" members of a population), while theoretically efficient, seem elitist and unnecessarily drastic and cruel from a human standpoint.

Then there are people who believe in the ideal that either nature or an all-powerful being will eventually "balance out" our growing numbers (Eywa?). Yes, people die every day, but lives taken by disease epidemics, natural disasters, or wars should not be thought of as expendable just because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time. In spite of the vast number of natural selection believers, we humans can take advantage of a very simple option to keep our numbers in check.

The total world population will reach about 9 billion in the year 2042, up from the documented 6 billion in 1999. Over 43 years, that's a 50% increase, or an additional 3 billion people. That's simply too many!

Some world governments presently have population limitation programs in place (China), or are developing new forms of contraception.

The human race can stop overpopulation at the source by not having as many children as we currently do. Some may consider this lowering of the planet's birth rate to be an extreme or even blasphemous idea, but many believe that it's exactly the kind of cautious and expeditious measure we need to take. Mathematically speaking, this reduction is certainly not a quick fix, but it is definitely more humane than selective euthanasia. Simply put, it focuses not on ending lives that already exist, but on creating lives less frequently.

I think it's almost becoming a necessity at this point. It's pretty evident by now that we've gone beyond a sustainable population....

When the whole world explodes (or whatever) in December 2012, this will solve his problem.

I did a little experiment the other day with Google Street View, I dropped the cursor on some random area on the map, to view the street view on that spot, in almost all of the cases I wound up on an uninhabited area with nothing but the road.

I find him malevolent, sinister and frightening. In short, evil.

Have you ever come across the James Cameron conspiracy page(s)? Filled with MK Ultra stories, mind control, etc.

Not recommending you look for them but certainly could explain your feelings.

Yet another Greenie wants the planet to himself because he’s the only one enlightened enough to appreciate how beautiful it is. Guess what, guy? This rock isn’t a theme park and you aren’t a paying customer. People live here. Sorry if it’s inconvenient.

If we could volunteer all the Liberals to go to the moon or mars or something we would not have any problems.

All it means is the “elite”, quite rightly feel “they” are losing control.

Too bad for them. so long as the don’t start WWIII or euthanizing the weak and the elderly.

Everyone in the world today would fit in Texas, with 4 people to a 1400 sq ft house. (350 sq. ft./person)

If we quit paying farmers to NOT grow food,
If we lifted the ban on DDT,
If we cared more about human life than inventing “endangered” species,

If the elites weren’t so damned selfish and RACIST!!!!!!
Then we could quit being conned into supporting the eugenics agenda, which is population control.

I think since the world is doomed, and it must be, with people like Cameron saying so, Cameron and his ilk should join the Golgafrincham Ark Fleet (preferably ship B) and depart as soon as possible. Do it for Gaia!

Note to Cameron: You need to get in touch with the Voluntary Human Extinction Movement.

To show your sincerity and to lead by example you need to drink the Kool-Aid like Jim Jone;s followers did at Jonestown. If you won't drink, we'll have to make certain you do.

It's for the children!
