What would Twitter have been like on September 11, 2001? This was the question posed to ESPNs Bill Simmons by comedian Patton Oswalt on Simmons podcast, The BS Report. While the question may be a bit morbid, it is interesting to speculate. However, Oswalts response was somewhat odd:
But to see it boiled down like that, and especially if not only Twitter had existed but the right-wing noise machine had existed and the left-wing. You know like, the way it is now, it would be, and I do not equate the left-wing noise machine with the right-wing noise machine because the left-wing noise machine seems to be based more on facts, where are the right-wing one seems to be based more on accusation and feelings.
Simmons quickly changed the subject and moved onto other incidents that would have been interesting to follow on Twitter such as the infamous Superbowl XXXVIII nipplegate.
However, Oswalts comments especially implying that September 11 would have been politicized by the right-wing noise machine shouldnt surprise anyone. Oswalt, best known as the pathetic sidekick Spence on the long-running CBS comedy series King of Queens is just another Tinseltown lefty -, having been interviewed by the Huffington Post and regularly advocates for liberal positions on his Twitter page.

Considering who this little runt is, I don’t care what he says.
The big idiot standing next to Oswalt is Brian Poeshan. He is another piece of work. As for facts...Hollywood types don’t need facts....they have writers to put words and ideas in their mouths. Not necessarily good ideas or good words.
It was about 30 seconds or less out of a 90 minute conversation, and I believe the only part that touched on politics.
He came across to me, more like a typical, politically ignorant, actor parroting Liberal talking points, as opposed to a rabid, highly political lefty. I almost got the sense that he when he mentioned the existence of a “left-wing noise machine” he realized that Hollywood establishment would be furious, so he qualified it with the “fact based vs. emotion based” drivel.
Too bad, becasue Oswalt’s stand-up is hilarious. He barely touches politics, which is good, because his liberal jokes aren’t very funny.
Never heard of the guy .
Too bad the entire film was infested by leftists. The ratties were kinda cute.
that’s too bad... i liked this guy on King of Queens... but he’s now shown himself to be a non-thinking moron...
LOL, yeah, this guy Oswald is a comedian alright. (Sometimes the jokes write themselves.)
Now, is this guy somebody I should have heard of before?
Another one bites the dust. Sounds like more and more of these idiots on prime time bash the right for everything. This Patton goof was once part of the cbs show Kings of Queen after several seasons.
How do you stand to watch that show? I want to choke the bitch wife after five seconds.

I had never heard of him until I listened to the podcast. He was pretty funny in it and made some interesting points (the “right wing vs. left wing noise machine” comment not being one of them). The comments they made before and after that about how national tragedies would play out on Twitter were interesting.
The premise of the book he was promoting seemed kind of dumb, though.

I don’t think you can fault the producers for casting a bunch of Leftists in a movie about rats. I’m sure they were aiming for authenticity.
"Who are you calling a leftist?"
haha! i know... he's a jerk, she's a bitch.... they are both selfish... i found it funny in a low brow kind of way... i didn't watch it religiously... just when i could catch it... i like the one where Doug and Arthur (her father) would make drinks for her after work because she was nicer when she was having "happy hour."
This is liberal logic alright. This is akin to saying it isn’t the booze in the glass, it’s the ice.
