Mark DeMoss, a well-connected Romney supporter, released a memo recently that touted Romney as the best candidate. More notable, however, were his swipes at other Republicans who are prospective candidates for 2012.
DeMoss begins the memo, which he sent out to hundreds of major donors and pastors, outlining what he sees as needed in the upcoming campaign. He then quickly moves into listing people who "share" the same values, including Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Mike Huckabee, and Sarah Palin. At the end of the list, DeMoss states that values alone cannot win, and then proceeds to list why he believes Romney is the best choice.
Amongst the reasons why DeMoss believes Romney is the best candidate is that he isn't bad at fundraising (even though he only raised 1/7 of Obama and 2/7 of McCain) and because a "poll" stated that Romney is by far the favorite candidate of Republicans. In the same poll, Sarah Palin was number five, behind Mitt Romney, Mitch Daniels, Tim Pawlenty, and John Thune...
The most obvious attack on Palin comes at the bottom of the fourth page of the memo. DeMoss not only alludes to Palin being incompetent, but he also attacks her well-known ability to energize a conservative crowd:
"A candidate for president of the United States should be capable of becoming president, and then competent to be the president.
Those who would suggest I am placing values on the back burner will be misreading me and wrong. I am only saying that a candidates values alone are not enough to get my vote. For example, my pastor shares my values, but I dont want him to be my president. (By the way, energizing a crowd is also not enough; Justin Bieber can do thatbut I dont want him to be president either.)"

Nobody associated with Willard is trustworthy, along with their candidate.
The GOP should forbid open primaries.
Primaries should only be for voters registered in that party, and not just a few months ago, either.
At the risk of being misunderstood in PC times.
The GOP will go the way of the Whigs.
Another shill for Willard heard from.
Count on it.
I’m going to enjoy watching Sarah smack-down all the RINO poseurs, Mitt, Newt, et al.
Staying home is not EVER a reasonable option for a politically minded conservative.
NOT EVER!
Even if you chose not to vote for the Presidency, there are OTHER offices being voted on.
Anyone who is advocating “stay home” as any sort of viable alternative needs to man up and shut up and go vote!
There are a large number of anti-Palins running who are not associated with Romneycare or Obamacare and Mitt will have to contend with them which will dilute his early vote. As these anti-Palins are forced to drop out, Mitt’s the only one with the money to stay in it. But, hopefully, by that time, it will be clear that Mitt’s support is too thin (especially in the South where the electoral college votes are) and that if he is the nominee, the republicans will lose big time.
totally agree with you. We definitely need an up-front surge for Palin. I hope one-issue freepers will realize in time that she’s our best hope and unless we unite behind her, we may be stuck with another Rino.
Because Pence, DeMint, Bachman, etc. all have a share of followers, but they would not make it and it would fall into the lap of a Romney or Rudy.
Agreed. And true Reagan Conservatives will honor the 11th Commandment.
seriously!
someone needs to get on the bandwagon if the Rom is going to run because he may have problems with HIS papers. I believe his father was born in Mexico. You won’t find much on Wiki tho.
Who exactly are you referring to?
Romney tried to win evangelicals and values voters the last time, but he failed so miserably that now he’s just “deeming” himself to be a social conservative and asking other social conservatives to move on to other questions.
When you look at his record, what he has said and what he has done, he can’t claim to be a social conservative. That is what cost him in 2008 and it, plus Romneycare, will cost him big time in 2012. He’s so desperate to become president, he doesn’t realize the predicament he’s in yet. But we have to keep reminding him.
I agree...there needs to be a game plan if Rommney carries the lead....McBain is going to push Romney as well... I see McCain in the same darkness as Obama. Disdain the man!
MAybe we’ll all just have to write in Palin either way.
I disagree. He came in second last time so it's "his turn". He's seen a string of moderate Republicans get the nod for the last 20 years. He thinks he can win if he just cobbles together the right pieces.
I think it's possible, just possible, he could win the primaries. But he would be trounced in the general because there are still enough Christians in America who would vote third party when faced with the choice of a Muslim or a Mormon.
No, I won’t. It would be suicide for the country. Please get over this ludicrous idea.
The party hacks on FR are still selling bull crap and telling us it is perfume.

There's that old saying that the first person to mention Hitler in an argument loses.
It's similar with comparing your opponent to some celebrity sad sack like Amy Winehouse or Snooki.
It's a sign that you really don't have good arguments against them.
Bieber's not in the same category yet, but he may be when this is over.
