Major Romney Supporter Compares Palin to Justin Bieber, Says She is not Competent
Pundit Press ^ | 1/24/11 | Aurelius

Mark DeMoss, a well-connected Romney supporter, released a memo recently that touted Romney as the best candidate. More notable, however, were his swipes at other Republicans who are prospective candidates for 2012.

DeMoss begins the memo, which he sent out to hundreds of major donors and pastors, outlining what he sees as needed in the upcoming campaign. He then quickly moves into listing people who "share" the same values, including Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Mike Huckabee, and Sarah Palin. At the end of the list, DeMoss states that values alone cannot win, and then proceeds to list why he believes Romney is the best choice.

Amongst the reasons why DeMoss believes Romney is the best candidate is that he isn't bad at fundraising (even though he only raised 1/7 of Obama and 2/7 of McCain) and because a "poll" stated that Romney is by far the favorite candidate of Republicans. In the same poll, Sarah Palin was number five, behind Mitt Romney, Mitch Daniels, Tim Pawlenty, and John Thune...

The most obvious attack on Palin comes at the bottom of the fourth page of the memo. DeMoss not only alludes to Palin being incompetent, but he also attacks her well-known ability to energize a conservative crowd:

"A candidate for president of the United States should be capable of becoming president, and then competent to be the president.

Those who would suggest I am placing values on the back burner will be misreading me and wrong. I am only saying that a candidate’s values alone are not enough to get my vote. For example, my pastor shares my values, but I don’t want him to be my president. (By the way, “energizing a crowd” is also not enough; Justin Bieber can do that—but I don’t want him to be president either.)"

Romney is a snake. No core priciples or morals to giude him.

Romney might get elected president on Kolob.

Nothing more.

Palin remains the benchmark against which all others compare themselves. I have yet to hear her call out any of her would be competitors.

Now, which one looks more presidential???

You are correct, the GOP hasn’t done anything to encourage the closed-primary states to move up their election dates. That tells me that they like the system just the way it is - biased in favor of the left.

Perish the thought. Time to make the GOP more conservative and the last election should have shown you that we’re on our way to doing just that.

Help me change my mind....I have stated that if Romney gets nominated I just won’t vote.

I’d rather have Obama with a split or totally Republican congress. Of course I don’t think he could beat Obama.

Am I wrong in my thinking?

This is why I’ve been saying we need to unite behind a SINGLE conservative candidate early.

A vote this year for anyone other than Governor Palin is a defacto vote for Romney.

Herman Cain and Mike Pence and all the others may be great conservatives, but they do not have the charisma, experience, or name recognition to prevail in a constested primary.

It’s Palin or nothing.

There are far more rinos running in the primaries... including rootie tootie and newt... Conservatives will have only ONE candidate... if she runs.

There are far more moderates, independents and fools voting in the Republican Primaries than conservatives and I have the election results to prove it. Romney is the only candidate not at least giving lip service to the Tea Party. He knows he can't win it so he is concentrating on the people he can win. As for your second comment there are several good conservatives who might possibly run. Not everyone who is not Palin is a Rino despite the prevailing groupthink around here.

I know it is difficult and sad to accept, it was for me too.....but you will come around.

The GOP is dead, they just don’t know it yet.

Mark DeMoss, director of the Civility Project, a two-year-old effort launched at the beginning of the Obama presidency to prompt legislators across the nation to cool political rhetoric, decided to shut the campaign down earlier this month -- even before the latest resurgence of debate about "vitriol" and rhetoric sparked by the events in Arizona over the weekend.

This guy is a loser. Who really cares what this hack has to say on anything. The fact that his group failed and he is blaming Conservatives is all you need to know about this nobody.

You are correct. ROMNEY KNOWS HE CANNOT WIN.

His goal is to destroy the GOP again, and again.

How DARE he allow RomneyBOTS to have thrown Election 2008
and then continue as his Legion of Spoilers.

And then there was 2010.

SHAME ON ROMNEY.

At the risk of being flamed ...

If ... God forbid ... Mittens wins the GOP primary ...

What do we do? Hold our noses and vote for him? Stay home? Vote for 3rd party candidate? Vote for Zero?

Just askin' ... it's something we all need to consider.
