Most of my Republican brethren are celebrating the Houses vote to repeal Obamacare but I think it was a colossal waste of time.
They say it was a moral victory and sets the tone for the new Congress...

IB ‘this posting is a waste of time’. It is BTW.
Nonsense. There are quite a few rookie Democrat House members who replaced other Dems. It is important to get them on the record with respect to Obamacare. While the GOP made great progress in 2010, there are still some vulnerable Democrat House seats that can be targetted in the next election cycle. Not to mention keeping the issue in front of the electorate.
It’s not a waste of time to oppose tyrrany.
I so totally agree with you.
Like hell it was, it was the most useful time spent in congress in the past two years.
It should be submitted Weekly and make The Senate show their cards and then make Ohaha Veto it Weekly.

Certainly gives them political leverage to leave out funding for Obamacare in EVERY bill that goes through the House. Especially political cover to hold the debt increase or any continuing budget measure hostage as 0 will never sign anything that includes a defending of Obamacare.
There are alot of states voting it unconstitutional too, so they can’t make some states take it & not others.
We are at the point of descending into an authoritarian Marxist state. Everthing that opposes this fall is important. We have gotten to this point by incremental moves such as Medicare, over regulation, welfare for all, etc. If we can stop the slide, every bit of resistance is important, even symbolic votes.
Post all of what you have to say and we’ll talk.
The House vote also gives the GOP momentum to make ObamaCare a principal issue in the 2012 election. That can't make vulnerable House Democrats who barely survived last fall's campaign, or the 24 Democratic senators up in 2012 (many in red states), happy. Nor can it be to the advantage of the president, who will also be on the ballot.
The longer this issue is around, the worse it's likely to be for Democrats.
Not if it forces the Senators to take a stand.
And not if it is sitting on the President’s desk come Jan 20, 2013.
It doesn’t get there without starting in the house.
If we win the senate and the pres. in 2012, it will be the first signed bill of the new presidency.
I can’t think of a better way to start.
todd... you are a TOTAL waste of oxygen.

Is that the DNC Talking Point Memo for today?
The court cases appear likely to eliminate key portions of Obamacare.
If you were a Senator, knowing that the courts have taken the bite out of Obamacare, would you continue to support this very unpopular (and de-fanged) legislation, knowing that your continued support will make you a target of the TEA party?
Only 4 senators need to change their mind to move the repeal out of Congress. Then it becomes Obama’s weight to bear.
I’m sorry, but I respectfully disagree with your assertion. If you could guarantee that the court cases would completely eliminate Obamacare, I’d agree - but the Virginia decision only eliminated part of it.
The House spent 3 entire days of their lame duck session naming post offices, streets, and declaring a “National Year of Opthalmology”. THAT was a waste of time. Not this.
Communism is like water. It is very patient and seeps into the smallest crack causes lots of damage. It is relentless, It never gives up. You can sweep it away and it will be back. The only way it can be defeated is to eradicate it every time it raises it ugly head. You can never give up beating it down or it will be back.
