The House of Palin is crumbling, at least if you're willing to believe the most notorious liars in media, the National Enquirer, who report today that Todd Palin, the famed "First Dude" and father of five, cheated on Sarah Palin, potential presidential hopeful, with a "female massage therapist who was busted for prostitution!" Shailey Tripp, the woman in question, does at the very least exist in Wasilla, Alaska, but beyond that, the tabloid's tip comes from an anonymous email address, thepalinmorals@hotmail.com, who writes: "My sources reveal that a massage therapist and computer technologist, SHAILEY TRIPP, had an affair with Todd Palin that lead (sic) to her arrest March of 2010." Could it be?
Probably not, but here's more from the Enquirer's online tease for their print issue (buy the issue, they say!):
"According to the tenants in the building of her offices, they saw Todd come and go often and heard noises that sounded like someone was having sex. It was the same tenants who called the police on her."
An ENQUIRER investigation has confirmed Tripp, 36, was arrested on March 4, 2010 in Anchorage and charged with maintaining a house of prostitution.
Tripp pleaded no contest on June 13, 2010 with sentencing set for June 15, 2011. She agreed to complete 80 hours of volunteer service, not post advertisements on CraigsList and pay a fine of $500. If she meets with these conditions, Tripp can withdraw her plea at the sentencing hearing and the case will be dismissed, records show.

The main credibility this bankrupt rag — The National Enquirer has is their reporting of the John Edwards affair which turned out to be right.
However, they also reported an alleged President Barack Obama affair with Vera Baker, which turned out to be false ( and which they had to retract ).
They’re onluy doing this to sell papers because the Sarah Palin name SELLS.
Why post this trash?
Thought they’d save this crap for when and if she gets on the ticket. Since Hitlery doesn’t have any stolen FBI files that we know of on Sarah, I guess they gotta’ slime up something. Love those anonymous source, don’t you? That way you can throw any amount of $hit at the wall, and some of it will stick. SPDS . . . a serious case of it.

The Enquirer was spot on with John Edwards and Palin has more enemies in the media that he ever did. I hope Todd is keeping his nose clean.
Sarah Palin needs to step out of the limelight for a while; she needs to use surrogates to defend herself instead..The media needs the oxygen of scandal to perpertrate its poison, and she needs to get away from them.
That is total bs. That rag of a paper got lucky outing Edwards and Reille Hunter now they think they could just make stuff up.
I don't think they particularly care if a story is true or not, as long as it sells papers.
They don't seem to have a right or left orientation for their trash, which is almost honorable in today's media environment.
Well they also exposed Jesse Jackson’s love child, and Rush Limbaugh’s drug habit; in addition to the Edwards affair/love child.
But yes, they are going with this thin line of “evidence” (hearsay that they paid for to someone who knows what would sell) is that it will sell their (usually) worthless rag.

The WABC talk show for Joe Crummey in New York City (same station that broadcasts Rysh Limbaugh and Sean Hannity ) actually gave a full hour discussing this.
Thankfully, most listeners are wise enough to not take the Enquirer at face value.
One listener even made a comparison between this story and Bill Clinton’s run in 1992 when his affair with Gennifer Flowers broke. That story was true while this one is hearsay.
That did not seem to prevent America from voting for Bubba.
That’s my take. Why post this? It’s just garbage.

The Village Voice said it best -— The only cred the Enquirer has, especially when it comes to political affairs, is left over from the John Edwards and Rielle Hunter nonsense, which to be fair, they owned months before any legitimate media outlet. But by now, with countless miscues in between, that should be wearing thin, especially considering it’s the same publication that pushed a Barack Obama affair only to retract the report right away. How long can we really hold out hope that nailing Edwards was a savvy act of journalism that could be repeated and not a broken clock being right? (Though that is supposed to happen twice a day...)
The bottom line is that Sarah Palin moves units: viral videos, Dancing With the Stars, Fox News and, apparently, on the newsstand too. It’s a perfect time to have her on the cover, no matter the coverage.
MSM “journalists” like son of Soros flunky, Mark Halperin use “anonymous sources” all the time. That jerk wrote an entire book bashing Palin using nothing but “anonymous” sources. And Hannity helped boost sales by having him on his show.
They all do it, not just the Enquirer.

The Enquirer itself is safe from from libel suits, as it is only reporting what their sources (the tenants) say. The sources themselves probably don’t have money, and so would be judgment-proof against any libel suit.

Unless and until this is confirmed by say, Drudge for example, I will assume this is hogwash.
