To read some of the reviews telling Sarah Palin it's over as to any hope of winning a general election, you would think she would be down in the polls versus Obama by an enormous margin, particularly if a poll were taken in the days after the Tucson shooting when the media was in full blame mode tying Palin's electoral map to the shooting.
But if this poll conducted January 9-12 by Greenberg Quinlin Rosner, a Democratic polling firm, for Democracy Corps is accurate, Palin is down 10% among voters and 6% among people who vote in 2010:

They tried to get Reagan to think the same thing. “People think he’s an extremist”, they would say.

I have a lot more faith in Rasmussen polls than any poll conducted by a democrat, liberal or left leaning entity.

At this point, it’s not happy news for America.
Romney is the odds on favorite for the nomination, (it’s his turn in the eyes of the GOP).
Obama has moved right enough to attract the morons in the middle, and the slobbering left won’t desert him.

Fwiw I’m not poll driven, but this is what the democrat internals are showing, not what has been reported by the MSM and some of the cowardly republican commentators. It’s not that bad.

I'm not sure Romney can win, he has a lot more baggage that will be exposed in the primary run up (Roneycare and more) . Most of this is speculative this far out, this poll simply shows the MSM narrative that Palin is 25 plus points down being a made up tale.

I’m not a Palin supporter, she has her strengths, but I’m not sold. However, I’d love to see her win so I could watch the mass suicides on the left. It would be wonderful.

Sarah will get into Obama’s face in a debate, rip him apart like a grizzly momma bear and the pussy cat won’t be able to handle her. Best to have Romney, he’ll take the blows, and be a gentlemen. Everyone in Politics loves a gentleman, right? Damn if there was only a way to get Allan West in the forefront!!

It is a logical fallacy to attribute past trends to future results with something like elections.
The GOP doesn't drive delegates, voters and caucus-goers drive delegates. All the king's horses couldn't stop Pat Buchanan from winning NH in 1996, or Pat Robertson from beating out sitting VP GHW Bush in '88.
More importantly, the dynamics are different now. Voters today have different motivations than they did in past elections. Palin gets it. Romney's consultants don't. ANY poll a year out means NOTHING. In 1975, Jimmy Carter was at 2%, George Wallace was favored over him (despite being paralyzed), Birch Bayh was considered a front-runner. Mitt Romney is the GOP's Birch Bayh.

No prob. There are others I could get behind as well, right now I think she's our best candidate.
The fun stuff will start when candidates start to declare.

That’s why I said it’s bad news for America. GOP candidates who are nominated because it’s their turn don’t do well, (think Dole, McCain).
The GOP needs someone really sharp, like Paul Ryan, (Ryan isn’t ready, and wouldn’t run in ‘12). I know he’s not conservative down the line, but I could live with Chris Christie as the nominee.

First off, any speculation at this point is merely pre game chatter. Means nothing, affects nothing. I get it. However, it’s not unreasonable to project 12 based on 08. Many of the same players are in the game. Having said that, in 07 who really believed Obama would win in 08?
I am not an election expert, but it seems to me, the GOP puts money behind certain candidates, and twists arms. It seems to me, the GOP can alter the course of events in terms of who gets nominated.
