Is John Boehner caving to Democrat demands not to use the phrase “job-killing?"

Is John Boehner caving in to Democrat demands not to use the phrase “job-killing?” In the wake of last week’s Tucson shootings, there has been a plethora of demands made by Democrats who say that they will work towards reducing the instances of violent spree-killers like Jared Loughner. Some Democrat proposals are just downright insane (like Robert Brady’s demand to “outlaw” crosshairs from speech and maps), while others are just downright audacious (like Chellie Pingree’s demand that the GOP remove “job-killing” from their vocabulary and description of Obamacare). Any way you cut it, these Democrat demands are barely disguised attempts by them to either censor speech, gain control over the political discourse, or silence GOP criticism. However, Speaker Boehner seems to be listening to the Democrats, actually failing to use the factual term “job-killing” when talking about Obama’s federal spending during a GOP retreat yesterday.

The GOP should use ‘job aborting’ that’ll work.

While I had high hopes that Boehner carried the cojones to push a conservative agenda, I’m quickly losing that hope. As long as the pubbies (and we, the people) allow the leftists to control the vocabulary of the debate and define the terminology to be employed, they (and we) will never be in the driver’s seat. Such has been the case since the catastrophe that was FDR.

If a bill is a ‘job killer’...then call it so. If the left doesn’t like, let them whine to their LSM enablers.

Keep the heat on ‘em. The truth will come out.

I think it would be a suitable replacement term.

The Stupid Party once again snatches defeat from the jaws of victory. They fell for the trap the Dims set by agreeing to sit intermingled at the SOTU, which serves two purposes, both of which benefit the Dims and not the GOP: First, it will not be evident that the Dims got crushed in the 2010 House elections; and, second, when the Dims give ObaMao a standing ovation (and they will after evey third word) it will appear the entire chamber is giving the ovation. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

You’re more of an optimist than I am regarding Boner.

I never had any such illusions. I’m angry but not disappointed.

Tell me please, now that we have kicked the Democrat netheregion in the House of Representatives, that we are not going to cave to their silly games as the first order of business.

“The GOP should use ‘job aborting’ that’ll work”

That’s actually quite brilliant! The libs don’t see abortion as killing - they see it as healthcare. How could they object?

Forcing the use of any set or words and banning others encroaches on your freedom of speech. Creating politically correct jargon is one of the foundation devices of the socialists.

Yes! I agree! “Job Killer” Health Care Act is far more factual for Obamacare than its original name, (roughly paraphrased) The “Affordable” Health Care Act of 2010. It immediately made premiums go up and forced employers to to go into survival/bunker mode, putting growth on the back burner.

JOB ABORTING!!! Great idea. Democrats can’t accuse the GOP of using “violent” rhetoric because abortion is a sacred word to the Libs.

If Boehner caves in even the slightest to these people he will have lost the battle. They will see this as sign of weakness and go for the jugular. The only way to treat these people is with a firm and decisive hand no capitulation, ever.

I never had any such illusions. I’m angry but not disappointed.

To paraphrase Hunter Thompson in his dedication to Richard M. Nixon at the begining of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas:

To John Boehner who never let me down... I expected nothing of him and he never lets me down

Boehner should just ask himself, "What would Nancy Pelosi do?"

and then do worse ... that's all the left respects

.

You are so right, let’s start a count of how often Boehner
bows to the will of the left, even in minor cases. They will soon escalate into major items. Treat these people the way they have treated you in the past, anything less is catastrophe. Getting along with liberal democrats is like trying to talk reasonably with the terrorists. Until the Republicans understand this they are doomed.

Agree. Do NOT let the LEFT frame the discusssion. Do not let them invent the vocabulary (double speak) and do not let them pick the topic and time for discussing it.

You would think the Republicans would have figured this out in the last 80 years or so.

No! They should use the language they started with and stick with it, it’s “job killing” let’s call it what it is. Keep bowing to the wishes of the democrats and you will bow yourself right out of power and you can take that to the bank.

The answer is so simple you would think they would have figured it out by now. Perhaps they just aren’t worthy to govern, too wishy washy. You are correct, we are all too willing to allow them to frame the language. Can you show me an instance when Republicans changed the language of the left on any issue. Republicans are in charge, act like it.
