Peggy Noonan: Obama Rises to the Challenge - He sounded like the president (Slobber warning)

The beginning of the president's speech wasn't good, and was marked by the sonorous banalities on which White House staffs in times of crisis always insist. "We join you in your grief," "We mourn with you for the fallen," "a quintessentially American scene . . . shattered by a gunman's bullets." Modern presidents sometimes speak as if their words were crafted by producers for a TV newsmagazine like "Dateline." This is bad because television producers tend to think their audience is composed of people who require the plonkingly obvious to be repeatedly stated in the purplest prose. The trend should be stopped. Presidents are not anchormen of true-crime shows, or were not meant to be.
I begin grouchily to underscore the sincerity of the praise that follows. About a third of the way through, the speech took on real meaning and momentum, and by the end it was very good, maybe great. The speech had a proper height. It was large-spirited and dealt with big things. It was adroit and without rancor. The president didn't mourn, he inspirited.
It began to turn when Mr. Obama started to make things concrete. Vaporous talk of victims turned into specific facts about real human beings: Phyllis Schneck was a gifted quilter, Dorwan Stoddard spent his spare time fixing up the Mountain Avenue Church of Christ. But the speech came into its own when the president spoke, again in concrete terms, of the condition of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords: "I have just come from the University Medical Center, just a mile from here." He had learned that "right after we went to visit, a few minutes after we left her room and some of her colleagues in Congress were in the room, Gabby opened her eyes for the first time."(continued@link)

Hey! I've got an idea: Maybe Peggy can co-host a show with Rod Blagojevich on MSNBC!!

Ok, so two full years in, the guy sounds ‘like a President’ for the first time....and for this, he deserves new reverence. I will agree, this was more presidential than anything he had done in office or beforehand. That said, this is the minimal requirement to hold the job in the first place. We had 42 men previously in this office who also ‘sounded like a president’ whether they were an effective leader or not.

All of the sycophants are falling into line.
Campaign 2012 was launched at a memorial service and none of them seem to care.

Peggy! He sounded like a narcissist!
“She opened her eyes for the first time....She opened her eyes....... For the fist time she opened her eyes.......She opened her eyes”.
Yeesh... He was wallowing in the applause and his own self thought saintly image.

He should have reminded his cheering supporters that it was a memorial service and not a campaign rally.

There was a time after 9/11 when i liked Peggy Noonan. I even bought one of her books.
Now she has devolved into a RINO lapdog, content with the salary and notoriety one can get if they are willing to whore themselves out to the Cabal.
You aren’t fooling anyone here anymore, Ms. Noonan. Your token, scripted RINO-city is of no use to anyone with half a brain.

Could not have said it better, and this has been bugging me since his speech. NOWWWWWWW he sounds presidential...so, all those prior times, he sounded like, what? We only move forward, right? We only work off examples of one, right? We have an affirmative action candidate here who did a nice job reading a speech. We’re cookin’ now, huh?

You know what Peggy, you exemplify the word: “Useful Idiot!”
You are an absolutely shallow fool. This man is single handedly destroying our country, and with one contrived, manipulative speech, he’s once again won you over.
You are a complete joke!

Lack of civility did not cause this tragedy, but "only a more civil and honest public discourse can help us face up to the challenges of our nation in a way that would make [the victims] proud."
In saying this, the president took the air out of all the accusations and counteraccusations. By the end of the speech they were yesterday's story. Just when I think Peggy can't get anymore clueless and naive, she proves me wrong. Good grief girl, GROW UP.

Don't be so gullible, McFly.
He occasionally sounded "presidential" the last time he RAN FOR OFFICE.
This was a campaign kickoff for him, that's all.
I would say he's a "master" the dog and pony show, but it really doesn't take much of a "show" to excite the obamabots who routinely salivate at the mention of his name..or one of his names. Are you listening MSM?
obama knows what we want to hear, trouble is, it's not what he wants to say. But like an "B" actor reading his telescript, he says what needs to be said for his own aggrandizement. "Pavlof's Dog", performing on cue for the reward afterwards...in his case, applause.
I swear, everytime the left and the media hears obama speak they act like it's the first time they ever heard him. Never do they consider all of the vile things he's said and done against America for the last two years.
They remind me of that movie with John Candy where he woke up everyday to the same scenario, never ending.
But yet, the left can somehow connect Palin and Limbaugh to the actions of a nutcase way down in Arizona, but can't remember what obama said yesterday...except what they need to remember to cast their spin.
Obama is and always will be a flim-flam man casting his sleight of hand over America to work us closer and closer to socialism and probably a dictatorship.
Wake up Peggy...obama hasn't even risen to the challenge of proving to America that he is a "legal" president. After all of the hullaballoo that was cast about Bush being an "illegal president" because the left didn't agree with a vote count, comes barack obama without even a legal birth certificate, with mouting evidence that he does not meet th Constitutional requirements for the Presidency...what hubris is the left.
To "sound like a President", obama would have to take lessons from Rich Little on how to do "Jimmuh Catuh".

No use criticizing Ms Noonan after all, she is a true blue blood Republican. A product of the best liberal arts education the northeast has to offer.
