Mark Levin to liberal media: Blame me for the shooting and get sued

Irresponsible media types began blaming conservatives for the Tucson shooting almost moments after it happened. But one conservative talker is not going to sit still and take the abuse.

Newsbusters' Noel Sheppard reports Friday that conservative talk show host and attorney Mark Levin issued a stern warning to liberal media personalities. Anyone who tries to tie him to the shooting will get sued.

Levin said it was time for conservatives to stand up for themselves and draw the line against those in the media who deliberately smear conservatives for any act of violence:

Now I’m going to tell you something. Maybe I shouldn’t, but I will. I’m waiting for an allegation that is very specific against me because I’m going to sue. I don’t care if they’re bloggers, I don’t care if they’re television hosts, I don’t care if they’re radio hosts. I’m going to drag your ass into federal court. Oh, you’ll have due process. It’ll all be nice and legal. I’m going to personally depose you. I’m going to drag you in front of a jury, and I’m going to get your assets.

The American Spectator reported that Levin also challenged MSNBC's Chris Matthews to find any example of himself or Palin promoting murder.

According to the Spectator, Matthews implied that rhetoric from passionate hosts like Levin and Michael Savage had a role in the Tucson massacre.

"I challenge Chris Matthews, I'll put $100,000 on the table, to find any example where Sarah Palin has promoted the murder of anybody," Levin said. Levin continued:

Mark is just bloviating. He likes to do that for ratings.

Gotta love him though.

Dearest Mark, Governor Palin and Rush Limbaugh were named as responsible for the “rhetoric” that caused these deaths. Would you be willing to defend them?? I’d love to see these irresponsible liberal accusers get it in court.

Oh good. I’d hate for Mark to feel that he wasn’t important enough to be included in the MSM blamefest.

Purely legal question: What if a madman killer DID listen to something someone in the media said, and in his sick mind USE that as a reason to kill?

In this AZ case, that did not happen. Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh had NO INFLUENCE at all in any stretch of the imagination over this ill man.

But what if something one of them had said DID lead to a twisted connection in the fertile mind of a sociopath, as the Beatles song “Helter Skelter” did for Charles Manson?

Can you all IMAGINE what they would do to Rush Limbaugh if some harmless sentence he said was twisted into “Must kill Giffords” in the mind of some nutcase?? Would Rush already be hanging dead and naked, upside down, over a bridge?????

We need to remember that it was not the fault of Lennon or McCartney that their song about a teeter-totter (and probably sex) was NOT an invitation to start a race war in which the blacks would take over the whites and we should go out and start to kill the rich whities.

We need to remember that Jody Foster at 13 was NOT responsible for trying to assassinate the President, nor were her producers and director, just because she was dressed as a child prostitute in a movie.

The conservative talkers and politicians who are being blamed for “angry rhetoric” that this AZ killer never listened to, have their RIGHT to talk about what they wish, unless they are exhorting to literal violence or murder, in which it would be irresponsible to give them any air time.

Please also remember that the true public exhortations to violence and murder against opposing politicians come from people like Alec Baldwin, on the Left, where he cried out on national television for Henry Hyde’s entire family to be murdered.

It is pure insanity that we are defending Rush and Sarah when not one phrase of theirs was used to cause these murders, but even if Loughner HAD listened, and twisted the message, Rush and Sarah are still not to blame.

The dog who “influenced” Son of Sam was never told to “tone down” his inflammatory barks.

You are incorrect.

Hmm. Maybe my post was not well written? My point was that Levin understands that the notion some people have that because Levin is a public figure Levin cannot sue for slander. He certainly can. he was defamed, lobeled and slandered by various people and they did so with malice.

I think you and I agree:) Levin can take legal action if he wants to.
