My first day back at work since the shootings came today, and I expected to be crucified, based on what I see and read in the media. It wasn't that way. My co-workers are fanatical liberals.
I walked up to one of them and asked how he was. The man adores Giffords. He let me sit with him and grieve with him. Others did also. One man came up and tried to blame “Republicans” and was met with an icy set of stares. They were more than willing to let me join them in sorrow. They all basically blame the shooter, no one else. One man said we could all use to cool our rhetoric. No one argued.
Some of them later quoted the media that Sarah Palin is finished because of the crosshairs thing, but that was easily refuted by my using Obama’s gunfight quote and the way Democrats have produced target maps in previous elections.
We had a decent day together and I was surprised, right here in the middle of leftist Tucson, only a few miles from where the tragedy occurred.
That’s quietly very reassuring. Thanks for sharing it.
