Unfortunately it will not stand up in court.

Did you know that Congress shall pass no law abridging the freedom of speech? What part of “no law” do we not understand as conservatives?

How do you define “uncivil” so we do not mess up? Be very specific as to the objective measurement.

EGGSactly Batman!

its still amazes me how many so-called Conservatives that post on this site have no frggin clue exactly what is in the Founding Documents.

Damn it folks it wasn't called the Bill of Suggestions!!!

Its called the Bill of Rights and Congress shall make no law to infringe those rights nor will the States nor some damn judge...

I hate everything the Westboro nutters do to garner publicity but Free Speech is Free Speech!

I know a few Baptists. They are nothing like these loons. That’s why I can’t refer to them as a “church.” They are a cult.

One of the Judicial branch's own, a judge is dead. Westboro will be forced to spend years filing lawsuits and $$$ in court. I doubt any court is going to look on the WBC jackals with any sympathy.

WBC is the face of hate. Given the environment, they drew the short straw. Deservedly so.

I worship in a Baptist church and I concur.

The FIRST Amendment
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

I don't agree with the cult member's false doctrines but then I also don't agree with Catholics, Methodists, Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, etc. and like these I've named and others I would never wish to prevent them from worshiping as they see fit where ever they wish so long as they are not blowing people up, killing those that do not agree with them or preventing others from peaceably worshiping as they see fit.
We are all confronted every day by issues that make us uncomfortable and that pi** us off but that doesn't give us a right to violate others Constitutional rights. If the Baptists aren't being violent then no one has the right to ban them from a public cemetery or to incite violence against them. The baptists aren't preventing those going to the funeral from worshiping as they see fit are they? The above amendment does not have any caveats like "but" or "unless" following it. PERIOD!

Of course this like all of my comments are simply my uneducated and humble opinion.

YESSS!!! I hate the sons of bitches but you take their rights away and you take mine with it. You can control a private service at a Church. You can not breach the peace or trespass after you are told to leave but if you are in a public cemetery — ITS PUBLIC!! Its the Constitution stupid!!

In the old days, protests like this would have been unheard of. People would have put aside their differences and would have come together in an outpouring of sympathy. Today, it’s every man (or woman) for him/herself. In many of the posts and commentaries I’ve read on this tragedy, there is not a shred of sympathy for the wounded and the loved ones of those who died.

It’s a shame that it has come to this. Our forefathers had dignity, respect, manners, civility. There was no need to even consider legislating behavior.
