Marshals on the hunt for suspected child rapist

U.S. marshals are on the hunt for an illegal immigrant wanted for raping an 8-year-old girl, and they are asking the public to help track him down. Salvador Portillo-Saravia, 29, had been deported from the United States six years ago, but illegally re-entered the country and recently sexually assaulted the young daughter of an acquaintance.

Fairfax County has issued warrants for felony charges of rape and sodomy of a victim under 13 years old.

"Portillo-Saravia is a vicious and violent individual," said Marshals Deputy Lenny Reynolds. "Anyone capable of such a horrid and senseless act cannot be allowed to participate in society and must be captured before he has the chance to harm more innocent people."

The attack occurred on Dec. 26 in a home in the 4700 block of Cardigan Square in Centreville.

Marshals deputies said Portillo-Saravia is originally from Honduras and has ties to the MS-13 gang in Northern Virginia. He has "MS-13" tattooed across his chest, with theater masks covering the MS-13 and three dots on his left hand, law enforcement officials said.

He last lived in Sterling and has a girlfriend in Ashburn.
