Please help me. I am addicted to burger porn:
Tulsa is the home of the original hamburger on a bun (Weber's Root Beer Stand):
Today my love affair will take me to Brownies for a double meat and cheese...
...along with a frosty mug of root beer and a heaping slice of coconut cream pie.

Michelle Obama will not like this.
According to her, fast food is one of the foods hurting people in the “food deserts”.
I wonder if Michelle likes a nice veggie burger.

Whenever ground beef goes on sale, I head out and buy fifty pounds of it.
I have a stainless steel pipe section about 5” in diameter, 34” thick. I use it to patty up the beef -three five pound tubes at a time, 1/3 pound per patty.
Now if I could learn the recipe for Fuddruckers’s burger buns....

Personally I make sure I toast all my buns (buttered) on a pan to brown them first. I also use white American cheese, not yellow.
Great thread. I look forward to the pics and follow ups. But one minor quibble. Those are the ugliest and most unappetizing pies I have ever seen. I wouldn’t feed them to my dog. (pie snob alert!)

The reason those burgers are so awesome is that grill has been getting seasoned for a century!
Yom!
Love the coconut cream pie and the root beer as well.

Has any one ever heard of Prexy’s - The burger with a college education? It started near Columbia University and expanded into a small chain in the ‘60’s with a Prexy’s on 86th Street near Lexington Avenue. They were served on a bun with chopped onions. If so, anyone know how they were made and what spices were used to give them their memorable taste?

Not a great burger, but the old Frostop has great root beer and they serve it in frozen mugs. And yes, they still exist.

Another secret besides the seasoned grill is that a proper burger is not a prefab patty.\
A proper burger is “hand spanked”
The cheese also should not be made in a factory and be packed in little singles.
It should be REAL cheese.
Then there is the bun. Again, it should not be from a factory.
A good kaiser roll (toasted) goes a long way to making a good burger.

Back in the 70’s we had Ollie's Trolleys in parking lots around Atlanta. They were so easy to rob they got run out of business. Your thread made me think of them because they had the best burgers I ever ate. So I googled them and there is one, I guess the original Ollie's Trolly in Washington DC. I post a picture from their site but I forgot the html protocol. Worth a gander though. If we only had a peripheral for smells...

I'm not sure if it's still on the menu, but when I was a student at Gettysburg College, The Pub (formerly, Wolf's Pub) served the "Buffalo Burger" which was a 1/2 pound burger served with bacon and buffalo wing sauce on a bed of grilled jalapeno peppers and crumble bleu cheese. It was yummy...I still make 'em on my grill...
