Whoa!, when did taco bell offer that?

Late 70's early 80's. They were pretty tasty as I recall.

It would be worth the trip to head north on 25 to San Antonio to get the green chile cheese burger at the Owl Bar.

Another secret besides the seasoned grill is that a proper burger is not a prefab patty.\
A proper burger is “hand spanked”
The cheese also should not be made in a factory and be packed in little singles.
It should be REAL cheese.
Then there is the bun. Again, it should not be from a factory.
A good kaiser roll (toasted) goes a long way to making a good burger.

When I’m in Maryland I try to hit Seibel’s in Burtonsville and the Olney Ale House.

Perchance have you ever been to Staub's Corner Cone in Poolesville? Probably gone by now.

No, when was it in business?

A truly great burger joint and bar was “Podboy’s Golden Finger Saloon” in Garretsville, OH in the late 70’s. It was down the road from a skydiving center I frequented.

Not a bad burger. The grill is well seasoned. The locals will tell you, this is the only place to eat in tombstone.

Back in the 70’s we had Ollie's Trolleys in parking lots around Atlanta. They were so easy to rob they got run out of business. Your thread made me think of them because they had the best burgers I ever ate. So I googled them and there is one, I guess the original Ollie's Trolly in Washington DC. I post a picture from their site but I forgot the html protocol. Worth a gander though. If we only had a peripheral for smells...

Here in Albuquerque, they have taco burgers, but it is a burger patty in a taco shell (crisp or soft).

There's a regional chain in the inland northwest called Taco Time that carries a taco burger like what you describe. Taco meat, lettuce, tomato, and IIRC Thousand Island dressing on a bun.

I'm not sure if it's still on the menu, but when I was a student at Gettysburg College, The Pub (formerly, Wolf's Pub) served the "Buffalo Burger" which was a 1/2 pound burger served with bacon and buffalo wing sauce on a bed of grilled jalapeno peppers and crumble bleu cheese. It was yummy...I still make 'em on my grill...

My favorite burgers are those I make myself. I have complete control of the quality and the ingredients.

After that, it’s WHITE CASTLE, baby!

The Taco John’s chain offers a taco burger. http://www.tacojohns.com/food1-taco5-Taco_Burger.asp

Beware as it looks nothing like the picture when you order one. Of course, what fast food does?

The bun is usually hard too, like they microwaved it before they slapped on the toppings. I get a craving once or twice a year for their taco burger as it was in the past. I’m disappointed every time but I still keep on trying.
