You go down this path, that animals are anything other than property, and someday you will be surprised to find that raising animals for food is illegal, and keeping animals as pets is illegal.

The animals you are referring to are feeding you and your family and were slaughtered in the most humane way possible.
Correct me if I'm wrong but you're not eating dogs that were systematically beaten to enhance their viciousness prior to being thrown into a fight pit and forced to fight to the death and those unlucky enough to die were subsequently taken home and thrown back into their pens and left to die.
Such dogs were not destined for your dinner table but instead used to satisfy the ghoolish and demented mentality of individuals who took pleasure in watching the torture of helpless animals........

So, you're buying the PETA propaganda now. Some sociopaths go to church picnics and some become politicians too. There are studies that find all kinds of predetermined outcomes; global warming, conservatives are ignorant, and...sociopaths pull wings off of flies and all kinds of other horrendous behavior (see politician above).
Besides, dog fighting is more akin to boxing than torture (other than boxers volunteer of course, which is the difference). I'm guessing Vick got more pleasure from the fight than the pain, but it is just a guess.

Let's sum up why this is hogwash:
1) Animals are not people. This doesn't mean we get to be cruel and there should not be punishment for acts like Vick's...but they are NOT people.
2) Taking this idiots advice would open up the slippery slope...don't kid yourself. Give socialists an inch and they will take a mile. There is no difference...really...between dog cruelty and chicken farms in their eyes.
3) I find it amazing that the lefties want to execute people for killing fido...but try to rehab the worst of our society...and believe it's OK to kill our unborn.
The fact that you are unable to distinguish between the slaughter of cattle for our consumption and the training and fighting of dogs for prurient and sadistic gratification tells me you have a serious problem with morality issues.
Since the only excuse you offered in support of dog fighting was because "it's a way of life down south" then by your own twisted logic one can only assume you also support child prostitution in Indonesia. After all, it's a way of life even tho it's illegal......

Can’t agree with the death penalty for his crimes. He got off too easy from our judicial system and the NFL too. He should have been banned for life from the NFL for the illegal gambling portion of his crimes. The league has no more credibility than professional wrestling after this

My dog would probably die of dehydration and trying to get outside. A cat is another thing altogether
