From Politico

Leading House climate skeptic Jim Sensenbrenner appears to have landed a perch to lead investigations into global warming science.

The Wisconsin Republican is set to become the vice chairman of the House Science Committee under incoming Chairman Ralph Hall (R-Texas), Hall told POLITICO Thursday.

“With his background, his insistence, he can do the mean things that we don’t want to do,” Hall said. “I’m a peaceful guy; he likes combat.”

Sensenbrenner, who has served as the top Republican on the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming since 2007, tried to keep the panel alive to investigate the Obama administration’s global warming policies, but was shot down by GOP leadership.

Sensenbrenner agreed to take the No. 2 spot on the Science Committee in exchange for Hall’s backing in two years when his term limit runs out, according to a Republican select committee spokesman.

Global warming advocates should celebrate ... there will likely be far less hot air coming out of that committee.

Sounds like Hall should relinquish the chair to Sensenbrenner.

Hall said WHAT? Dump Hall and put Jim Sensenbrenner in charge. He’s a go get-er that will get er done. ENOUGH of this GOP nice guy. These Dems/Progressives/Communists imbedded in our government are in full speed ahead mode to ruin this country. They want to go back to the horse and buggy days. Well ask your grandmother what the streets were full of. The same thing the EPA is full of.

Jim Sensenbrenner is my rep and he’s a darn good man. He needs to push to defund the EPA and demand a reversal on all of their “end runs around congress” horrendously damaging EPA rules that have been put in place. Get out of the way of business, stop the land grab, open up drilling and watch the economy roar ahead.

I want government haters in charge of all the committees. They all need to have disagreeable dispositions. Most of all, I want them to lack compassion. Making bureaucrats cry should bring a smile to their face.

Generally I like Jim Sensenbrenner. He’s my Congressman, but keep him away from anything to do with ANWR, please. He personally kept the Congress from voting on opening ANWR back in 2004 when the legislation had already been passed by the Senate and Bush would have signed the Bill.

I doubt that Sensenbrenner will push to open up drilling. He’s blocked it before (especially ANWR). His attitude is (and I quote from a personal conversation), “We should use up all of their oil first!” (Saudi Arabia, Brazil, etc.)

He was against opening ANWR because (again, his words) “There is no way drilling in ANWR would benefit Wisconsin. The oil would go to Japan or California.”

I wish that he’d change his mind, but I’ve seen no evidence of it.

Hall’s statement makes me wonder why he ever got into politics. Likes the perks, I guess.
