Attorney General Eric Holder has decided to sue a suburban Chicago school district for denying a Muslim middle school female teacher three weeks of unpaid leave to abandon her students and make a pilgrimage to Mecca. The teacher wanted to perform the Hajj, the pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia which every adult Muslim is supposed to make at least once in a lifetime if he or she is able to do so. Ironically, the Obama administration is suing over a practice that discriminates against women. Under Islamic law, a woman is not allowed to perform Hajj alone and must be accompanied by an adult Muslim Mahram (father, husband, son or brother etc.). And for an administration that claims it regards a quality education for our public school students to be one of its highest priorities, it is willing to fight for the “right” of a Muslim teacher to abandon the students in her charge so that she can trek to Mecca for a few weeks.

No. Hajj is a once a year Saudi spectacle, that like everything else Muslim, is 100% controlled in every detail.
Making a personal pilgrimage at any other time doesn't count; nor does it count if any detail of any part of it is incorrectly performed.

Yes, Hajj season will occur in the summer in about 8 years, and since the pilgrimage is only obligatory once in a lifetime, and she's in her 20's, it does not constitute something that should disrupt the school.
There is no doubt that she could wait a few years for a regularly scheduled vacation time/Hajj correspondance.
It could be that if she had some time (and tenure) under her burka belt, she would have qualified for the leave. I know that whenever I was a new employee that I didn't qualify (nor expect to) for privleges & benifits longer term employees enjoyed.
I still have yet to hear what the (to her) compelling reason was for 2008 to be "the year"...especially as she only began working for the district in 2007.

She’ll neve admit it, but one of purposes of Islamists in America is to keep pushing the envelope of acceptablity of Islamic mores and tenets in America.

That’s partially an influence of Saudi endowments, but others like this teacher will push the boundaries on their own.
And people wonder why so many Americans believe 0b0z0 is a closeted muslim.
Where is the supposed separation of "Church" and State? Maybe Holder is interpreting this principal literally, i.e., being anti-Christian while giving others a carte blanche!
