Locked into a union-demanded single salary schedule that treats all teachers like assembly line workers, districts cant offer a high-quality physics or calculus teacher more money. Teacher union wages and benefits are obscene. The result of their salary schedules is not inability to attract high quality talent. The result is gross over compensation for people clearly not worth it in the open market.

Most everything about unions is not based on merit. Unions are based on strong arm, thuggery and greed.

The head of the state's largest teachers union is being paid nearly $300,000 while other top leaders earn more than $200,000. But some are wondering why a union that supports its members being paid based only on education level and seniority is compensating its leaders differently.
It's because the education level hasn't got a thing to do with the level of intelligence and sophistication. Thanks MichCapCon.
