A PPP poll shows that Michele Bachmann is easily the first choice of Minnesota Republicans to run for the Senate in 2012. 36 percent say they prefer her as the nominee, compared to 20 percent for Tim Pawlenty and 14 percent for Norm Coleman.
I have no idea whether any of these three is interested in running for the Senate in 2012. But I think this poll adds credence to some of my speculation about what to expect in the 2012 Republican presidential primaries.
I've been suggesting that, if she runs, Sarah Palin might be able to attract 30 to 35 percent of the primary vote in many states. In a crowded field, might well be sufficient to propel her into a clear lead after the first wave of primaries. I've also speculated that candidates considered less staunchly conservative, e.g., Mitt Romney and Pawlenty, might find it difficult to stay with Palin.
The PPP results from Minnesota are consistent with this speculation. For Michele Bachmann to be so far ahead of the state's popular governor seems like a good sign for Sarah Palin. And it's plainly not a good sign for Pawlenty and his presidential aspirations, assuming he has some.

Tim’s only interest is the White House. If Norm couldn’t beat Franken, he doesn’t stand a chance against Amy.
Maybe the day will come when we pontificate on how to sell our best candidates to the independents, who in the general election will be making the call as to whom our next president will be.
Should Obama stay crippled maybe anyone from our side can win, but when you look at the electorate who put this inexperienced ideologue in office, you have to wonder if just any far right conservative can win out there.

I’d prefer Bachman / Palin, but in all seriousness, is the USA ready for two females on the ticket. Remember, above all we must WIN.
The problem with Pawlenty is he’s so late weighing in on any given issue. Apparently he has to figure out which way the political winds are blowing before taking a position.
Plus, he has all the charisma of a rock.
I would prefer Pawlenty run for the Senate seat. Bachmann is a force in the House and should stay there.

You twisted my comment sir...I didn't say ME, I said "the USA". HUGE difference, and FWIW Bachman would be VERY high on my list to run as Prez. I say again, we MUST win in 2012, so these questions need to be considered.
