Wikileaks – something just doesn’t add up

Things just don’t add up when you look at the Wikileaks story. First, who has ever heard of an all out, worldwide man-hunt for sexual assault; especially by the European Union? The EU has stood behind admitted statutory rapist Roman Polanski and has denied attempts by the United States to extradite him so that he can be tried for his crimes.

So why was there this concerted effort by the EU to capture Julian Assange? When by most accounts, the charges appear to be completely trumped up. It appears that the two women accusing him of rape conspired against him and one of them even threw a party honoring him after he allegedly raped her.

...jokers and fools

from a previous posting, see second last paragraph...

..current policy from the white house.....

I am fearful that Obama will continue on through the Wicked Gate without impeachment....
This is all deliberate, maliciously intended and purposeful in Obamas nefarious agenda of bringing down the west. Take down America, the leader, and the rest follows. Assange is just a little player like Rosa Brooks but cumulatively, each cell has a effect. For Asssange? Obama eased his path. Much like Obama is easing the path for the OIC based UN to come into the US to hunt “War Criminals”.
America has been thoroughly infiltrated and its natural defenses penetrated to the nth degree with Obama collaborators.
Obama , culturally never was an American as he carries many chips on his shoulder and as we see from his old culture at many levels. He feels for his Kenyan identity, he feels for his muslim identity, and he feels his angst against white and America....

On top of it, Obama is a Muslim wanabe or Wahabe, I call him a ghazi.

“One of the prettiest sounds on earth” is the Muslim call to prayer at sunset.
Barack Hussein Obama as quoted by Nicholas D. Kristof in the New York Times - March 6, 2007

All this brings on a interesting question... how can America have any struggle against Islam, or protect herself with the most powerful muslim in the world sitting in the White House?

Be wary, wary aware ....and wary, wary afraid...get prepared for more creeping sharia...more than what is coming out of the White House today

Polanski's crimes were against an individual.

Assange's crimes were / are against the state. He's made a lot of lofty people look pretty dumb and irresponsible in doing it, including himself.

These are trumped-up charges to get Assange into custody in Sweden. Apparently the Swedes have already made a deal with the US that will end in Assange being turned over to the US. The DoJ (from news items two days ago) is going to try him for espionage, based on the argument that only journalists get Freedom of the Press.

The information coming from Wikileaks is not Top Secret; it was openly available to between 2 and 3 million people. It doesn’t blow any spy covers; anything of a sensitive nature that identifies cicilians has been expunged.

What the information definitely *is* is embarrassing. It shows to the American populace just how greatly they have been deceived in the area of foreign policy. This deception has been going on for decades; its has billions and billions and billions of dollars spent on it. Maybe Assange figures that if Americans know what’s going on, they’ll demand a change. Hah! Fooled him!

We are throwing money down a rathole the way we are conducting foreign policy now. The military approach - big guns and bombs in Iraq and Afghanistan - isn’t effective against local insurgents, and makes the general population hate you. We should have learned that from Vietnam.

No black or white on this issue. All degrees of bad and worse.

I bet the outgoing emails in all gubmint agencies has crept to a trickle, and those are not policy wonk stuff.

Electronic and written correspondence has most likely dried up. Very interesting situation which will take a decade to sort out.

The odd part is that things may get better as a result of political hacks not documenting the case for their own importance. We'll see I suppose?

My quick resolution if I were the justice department, would be to nail the guy to the wall unless he leaks the entire combined nation databases at the UN. I would also throw in the Soviets just because they got cocky over this.

The guy sure has managed to touch a lot of lives.........

I'm finding it difficult to make sense of the story, especially given the shallowness of the media coverage about it. Nonetheless, the whole affair smells of misdirection, and has from the start.

Assange is evidently a radical activist who believes his actions are advancing the international Progressive agenda. At the same time, he is likely being manipulated by some who claim to be his friends, as well as by some who claim to oppose him.

I suspect he is a pawn in a high-stakes game involving our government’s security, intelligence, and foreign policy establishment on one hand, and Assange and the news media on the other. Which leaves me to conclude:

Assange’s interest is in personal notoriety (getting invited to chic parties among the Euro-cognoscenti and, apparently - getting laid) and also advancing the Progressive “cause”.

The News Media is interested in feeling important and relevant, feeding their egos, and selling advertising at competitive rates.

Our National Security Services – at present: internally competitive, duplicative, bloated, politicized and ineffectual - wish to validate their existence(s) and lobby for what all government agencies want - more money and power.

Our State Department wants to rebuild its own tattered reputation without further embarrassing career diplomats or the Administration they serve, and therefore favor whatever controls on information can be imposed as a matter of political expediency.

And for its part, the Administration wants to control (read: shut down) dissenting voices, which it might accomplish via agency rule-making (FCC) or perhaps by Executive order, and perhaps after provoking a “crisis”.

His daughter’s name “Malia” is also Arabic; same name used by Malcolm X in choosing Muslim names for himself and his family.

Really? To me nothing particularly surprising has come out of the leaks. Embarrassing, yes, surprising, no. Kind of like discovering photo proof that your neighbor sometimes picks his nose.

Are you aware that we recently defeated an insurgency in Iraq?

Glenn Beck nails it in my opinion.

He points out that there is plenty of truth in it but the truth isn’t the goal. Creating chaos is the goal.

While I hope Assange gets the karma he deserves, I’m a lot less concerned with him than I am the leakers. I personally don’t believe he acted alone.

As for the hackers now targeting Pay Pal, credit card companies, banks etc, I take that personally. I and millions of others do business through those companies and am completely innocent of any wrongdoing. The fact that the scumbags are targeting us confirms in my mind, their anarchist/criminal bent. They’re nothing but thugs.

He embarrassed their diplomats. They didn't give a rat's patootie when it was the lives of soldiers and informants, no...but annoy someone sipping mint tea and watch out!

It's a no-brainer.

The leakers and hackers are definitely the ones our Justice Department ought to be going after, and yet the effort seems to be somewhat... muted? Half-hearted? If their purpose is to foment chaos, the perpetrators will be successful in the absence of a meaningful effort to prosecute them.

At the same time, it is imperative to preserve both free speech and free enterprise to the greatest extent possible for the vast majority of Americans. For some reason, I suspect that's not the Administration's plan. As for Assange himself: he was safer in custody; one of the players using him now will discard him later.

“Are you aware that we recently defeated an insurgency in Iraq?”

Did you forget the /sarc tag? The insurgency is still there. The insurgency is still killing Iraqis. We didn’t defeat it; we just got out of its way. We don’t pay any more attention now that it’s just Iraqis blowing up each other.
