Well, at least he's consistent. Consistently nutty, that is:

I mean, aren't they jumping to a wild conclusion?" he added. "This is media, isn't it? I mean, why don't we prosecute The New York Times or anybody that releases this?"
That's the high school freshman's take on the Wikileaks issue which is what we've come to expect from the man who wants to take us back to the gold standard and get rid of the Federal Reserve. When the rest of us grew up, we realized that "truth" was a subjective force, indeed. One man's truth is another's excuse to start a war or put a bullet in someone. Universal truth is especially elusive in foreign affairs where being totally candid is not always the best path to take in order to accomplish a goal.
No doubt Assange's spitting at authority appeals to the juvenile delinquent in Paul. But then, he was never noted for his maturity on the campaign trail as his petulance and whining during the GOP debates made clear.
I’ll admit I haven’t been following this story. But from what I’ve read, so far, the disclosures are embarrassing and don’t help diplomatic relations. However, IMO, the reason for that is the State Dept acts like a bunch of 6th graders calling people “names” and daring to put it in memos. Why aren’t they held to account? If my work memos included “name calling” and my boss found out, I’d be called on the carpet.
And what about the leakers...who the heck are they?
Everybody’s after the Wikileaks guy that published the info, but if someone leaked Obama’s records (BC, school, etc.) and a blogger published it, all FReepers would be cheering.
Maybe I don’t understand the real issues, as I said, not too involved in the whole story, so someone enlighten me.
The problem here is that WikiLeaks would eagerly toss out all these American secrets...while the Russians, Chinese, Iraqis, and French kept theirs intact. Julian would then say that we were in a age of transparency...when we weren’t.
Then Julian needs various naive countries to hide him or at least allow him to do his work....in effect...protecting him, while he gives them nothing (no taxes, no revenue, no help, etc). If the citizens of these countries sat down and considered Julian’s value to them...he’d be a zero.
Finally, the impressive thing about Julian and his hiding game is that he’s like a cousin that demands access to your house, your refrigerator, your food, your internet, and your booze. It would appear that the handlers of Julian work hard at finding ladies to house him and I would speculate that Julian plays this “secret-agent” routine and how the CIA is chasing him over the ends of the Earth. Then Julian puts enough wine in front of the host....and eventually takes advantage of them (note both Swedish ladies who’ve reported his behavior).
Bluntly, he’s a loser on a mission that only hinders the US in the end.

I knew the Paul article would wake a lot of FReepers up on what has been a quiet Sunday morning.
I don’t mind most of that junk being published on Wikileaks. What bothers me tremendously is leaking information that blows the cover off important espionage operations, i.e. the president of Yemen trying to ID AlQaeda in that country (against the will of the rest of his government) or negotiations to get the Pakis to turn atomic material over to the US rather than sell it to terror countries or organizations.
And Assange is nobody to judge what can be “safely” leaked and what cannot.
And, BTW, anybody who thinks his dumps have been truly indiscriminate had better think again. He surely has expunged material that could prove embarassing to countries which either finance him or shelter him.
Well, Assange has promise a bank info dump next time. Maybe Paul’s info will be included. Who knows with that Aussie flake?
Maybe not charge Assange with treason, but definitely the queer that stole the info

Assange could be caught by us and charged with espionage but not treason.
Adults embrace truth is subjective? No, I don’t ascribe to that belief system.
I’m haven’t come to a firm opinion on the Wikileaks issue but I will say Paul has a point about the journalists who spill these secrets.
