Governor Palin’s presidential candidacy is a difficult issue for me. While I like her politics and think she would make a good president I also believe she's made some critical errors such as not serving out her term as Governor. I know that she made an honest mistake referring to “south” Korea and agree that the press gives Obama a pass on his similar mistakes all 57 state's worth. But the simple truth is many in America have the incorrect impression that she isn't smart enough to be president. She has to realize that her standard is going to be so much higher than Obama’s that she is going to have to be twice as prepared as he is and vastly out perform him on every issue.

I've been very impressed with the TLC show and think it was a great idea to keep her in the public eye. I can see liberals opposing her on the issues but I just do not understand how anyone could hate the Palins after watching this show. Every episode just reinforces the idea that they are honest, hardworking Americans. There are very few politicians I can picture driving around in an RV and doing some commercial fishing with their families.

For me the difficult part of her candidacy is that while I think she could easily dominate the primary I don't know how she would fare in the general election. I know the media is underestimating her electability but I'm just not sure she can clear the final hurdle. This relentless Palin bashing that many Republicans are doing is suicide for the party. There are plenty of ways for them to disagree with her on the issues without the pettiness and envy that they seem to enjoy. To try and just tear her down ala Peggy Noonan or this latest buffoon just turns tea party voters away from Republicans. Ultimately we still have a long way to go until 2012 and a lot can change. If the economy rebounds sharply it will be very difficult to unseat Obama. On the other hand if it remains weak any Republican nominee may be able to win.

Your entire post was a good one, very thoughtful. Although I don't necessarily agree with it, it's an honest take on the matter.

I think your last sentence is absolutely spot on. If the economy were to rebound, there is no one who can beat the bamster.

She had no choice if she was going to survive both financially and politically:
