My family, my wifes family are good conservatives and are unanimous - they do not want to see Palin as the nominee. It is very frustrating to see her feel the need to respond to every news item. She needs to get off of twitter. It makes her look foolish. She is overexposed on the media and to be honest I now cringe and turn the channel when I see her on the tube. Many of us question whether Obama had the experience to be president - how can you not say the same about her?

They will do the same to whoever is the candidate. The media was ruthless in 2000 but Bush won. Some people falsely believe the media will someday embrace a republican candidate. They will seek to pick apart every statement of everts republican candidate regardless. They threw their own darling Mccain under the bus without second thought 2 years ago.

The pat answers are getting old.

The bromides are getting old, my FRiend. They are spending time on her because she is a threat to them. In this day and time, media exposure is very expensive and it's obvious that they have to take her out. How about this question then: "If they weren't afraid of her, why are they spending so much MONEY on her? Advertising dollars are expensive and somebody has to pay to keep these media outlets on the air.

Old argument? Maybe. But the so called "pat answers" are not answers at all, they are bromides that you tell a child in order to keep them quiet. How about the answer to them spending time on her simply, "Because they want her complete and utter destruction." That answer works for me.

How? See the 65 seats picked up 3 weeks ago. She put out a specific set of 20 candaidates running against moderates who voted for obamacare. I believe 19 of those 20 won.

Palin is no doubt driving the political agenda in this country. Regardless of presidential politics, there is no denying it.

"If your choice on the ballot was Palin or Obama, who would you vote for?"

Sarah Palin.
At this point in time I would vote for whoever the GOP nominee is over Obama with the exception of Romney in which case I would vote third party (Huckabee I would vote for but then I would have to take my life when I got back home).

I agree re: ol’ Charlie. Even this year with the tea party he was behind the curve all the way up until a massive wave election was obvious and inevitable.

Yep, and they trotted out poll after poll showing Carter with a massive lead—right up until Reagan’s win.

I agree. I too would vote for any GOP nominee over Obama except Romney. In that case I would not vote.

I'll give you credit for answering. When I ask others who are not fond of Palin, they usually ignore the request. (WTC911 for example). What's really sad is that no white male politicians on the right feel comfortable in showing some gonads due to the disease of political correctness permeating society.

What everyone is denying is the truth that the media has defined Palin and done so successfully.

Don't you just wish that were the case.

One of Sarah Palin's signature claims to fame is that she refuses to sit meekly and allow the MSM and the left to define her, as so many Republicans before her have done. She's showing a whole new generation of Republicans (and quite a few old ones) how to fight back and maintain control of the debate, the message, and their own image.

The only people the MSM are fooling, are those who were never going to vote for a Republican in the first place.

I think Palin is the only person Obama could beat.

I hope you'll be willing to own up to having said that, when Sarah Palin wins the 2012 election.

In fact, I'm wondering how many doubters on this forum will have the guts to admit how wrong they were, when she becomes our president.

Reagan was, among other things, the king of rapport, imo. Part of his "great communicating" was this trait. His genial nature, his jokes, his ability with the camera, enabled him to win you over based on subjective reaction.

True, but that side of Reagan was effectively hidden from the voters by the MSM until the 11th hour, when the whole country was able to watch him in the televised debates.

The MSM is attempting to create a false image of Sarah Palin, just as they've done to every Republican candidate before her. But this time, they're being outsmarted by someone who not only thoroughly understands their game, but who is on the offensive against them.

Sarah not only has many similar traits to Reagan, but she's also directly building rapport with the American public, by by-passing the MSM.

The MSM convinced voters that Dan Quayle was an idiot. The accusation stuck. They convinced voters that Newt Gingrich was evil. The accusation stuck.

Sarah Palin has been defined. It’s over before it’s begun.

If Sarah had no control over her message, and no access to the tools of mass media, I might tend to agree with you, but that's not the case.

Sarah regularly reaches the broad public through the tools of new media, and even with her published editorials in the establishment media.

The MSM and the establishment left see her as an enemy, and treat her accordingly in their output. Not everyone is swayed by their scurrilous portrayals of her, because they've either grown to distrust the MSM for the Democrat shills they are, or because Sarah herself is reaching them directly through new media channels.

Independent voters, whom you feel have been so thoroughly brainwashed by the MSM, just shifted right and handed the Democrats an historic ass kicking. Yet somehow, these same Independents are sour on Sarah Palin, the very face of the Tea Party right, in your view. I think your logic is flawed, friend.

That you're convinced that the MSM is in control of Palin's image, and the fact that you believe so strongly in their power to control the minds of the public, is disappointing, to say the least.

Sorry, but I'm not buying it. True conservatives resonate with Sarah Palin because they see their most deeply held convictions reflected in her.

I can see one or two hold-outs among two families of conservatives, but unanimous disapproval of Sarah Palin? Color me skeptical.

This raises the reverse question:

Should we take steps to support BHO as the 2012 D nominee?

North Carolina's General Assembly went Republican (first time in over 100 years...) and now is the perfect time to push our local reps to legislate new laws requiring all candidates to provide original BC’s to establish their credentials for being on the ballot.

If we do this, BHO may not even run to avoid the fight..

BUT, do we really want to open up the D field to competent executives with real experience? Or do we want to keep BHO in the running as the easiest to blame and beat?

Haley Barbour has already joined the call for conservatives to surrender on social issues, taking out our leading conservative will not help your moderate candidate.
