Our flag seems to be constantly under attack these days. This beautiful symbol of freedom and liberty that is recognized throughout the entire world as a beacon of hope for all mankind seems to be barely tolerated here at home. For over 200 years, the American flag has been an emblem of America’s goodness, charity, hope and freedom throughout every land and those of us who do not take those qualities for granted hold that symbol in precious esteem.
But, now in this revolting age of political correctness, where radical leftists and the ignorant masses rule supreme, we are no longer freely allowed to proudly fly our country’s representation without fearing some sort of backlash or punishment for doing so. Stupidity is the new law of the land, where the President of our country now bows to dictators, goes on a two year world apology tours and turns this once symbol of inspiration and possibility into a demonized token.
We heard last Friday of the young school boy who was forced to remove his flag from his bike that he proudly flew in honor of his grandfather on Veteran’s Day because the moronic principal of his school didn’t want it to be offensive to this Hispanic community in the school. My take? Don’t you dare move to America, take advantage of it’s people, it’s blessings and it’s richness and yet choose to withhold your FIRST allegiance to this country. Love it or LEAVE IT!
Now a new flag confrontation is emerging from Idaho where a couple who has a son in the military fighting to protect the very morons who take offense, are being told that they can’t fly their American flag outside their home.
"One pair of residents, Steve and Robin Perfect, have decided to continue flying a flag in honor of Robin Perfect’s son, Sgt. Edward Nalder, who has deployed with the Idaho Army National Guard’s 116th Cavalry Brigade.
“He deployed Sept. 21. We saw him off in Boise,” Robin Perfect said. “On the way home we bought an American flag at WalMart.”
The Perfects, who rent a unit at Copper Ranch, said they hadn’t received a copy of the homeowners’ rules regarding the common area, but they have received a number of calls requesting that they remove the flag that now flies on a pole outside their front door.
Emerick said the law permits the Copper Ranch Homeowners’ Association to prohibit the flag from being flown out-of-doors on the property. He said the four violations his board is currently addressing all have to do with the U.S. flag."
It goes on:
“You know what, this is my flag. This is my son, who is in Iraq fighting for everyone in this country,” said Robin Perfect, who said her husband moved the flag mounting from a post in front of their unit to the wall by their front door. “I asked my husband to spread the flag to see if it would be in anyone’s way. I’ve been trying to accommodate everyone for the past two months. It’s been a nightmare.”
The Perfects have received a letter in support of their right to fly the flag from Sen. Mike Crapo, R-Idaho.
“This legislation supersedes homeowner association restrictions in favor of individual rights to display the U.S. flag on residential property,” Crapo wrote in his Oct. 26 letter to the Perfects.
Emerick contended that the Crapo letter does not interpret the U.S. law correctly. He said his board is considering how to address the issue of non-compliance of the homeowner rules, but has not decided what further action to take."
That a decent size American flag flying on the home of patriotic and proud military parents, or anyone for that matter, would be under fire like this is the epitome of stupidity and outrageousness to me. It’s now been reported that this insane HOA has finally backed off and is claiming that it was all just “a misunderstanding.”
"After fully investigating the situation, and receiving calls and e-mails from angry and concerned people nationwide, the HOA apologized to the Perfects on Friday, and told them they can fly an American flag in honor of their deployed son Sgt. Edward Nadler."
What does this teach us? That we have a voice and we must use it. We must have the courage of our convictions, refuse to allow such stupidity rule and when we see someone doing something right and getting flack for it, than we must stand up with them and let ourselves, with one very loud voice, be heard.
And, just as any decent and responsible parent wouldn’t succumb to the tantrums of an out of control two year old, nor should we cave to the out of control behavior of anti-America bigots.

Home Owners’ Association is a misnomer!
These mini-gulags are ripe for picking by bossy little Hitlers. Folks who keep lists and logs of neighbors who don’t march in lock-step.
Avoid buying homes in HOA developments if you can - OR - run for election on the HOA board - so you can run your own life and no-one can ruin it.
I just hope it was obvious enough that it was sarcasm for everyone to know I too am going for the narrow minded option.
There's just too much flag-banning going on these days. Had a local zoning bunch here in Florida make a big deal because a seafood market had painted a big flag on it's wall facing the street.
Display of our flag should be one right that we never have to even consider threatened. If they don't like it then they can look the other way!
