From what I've read there were no warnings on the day in question for that area. Have you ever been to Catalina? There are hundreds if not thousands of boats in the LA area at any given reasonably good day. Not to mention large cargo ships with good radar and recording devices.

Santa Catalina is a-waitin' for me
Santa Catalina, the island of romance
Romance, romance, romance
I've brought up the ships/boats a couple of times. And then there's the aircraft of all sorts. And the few million people who might have noticed a launch. And I see that all these potential witnesses have been offered by others in these threads.

^hat NOTAM was taken off the site that issued it.
It pertains to
Air: W537 AND
Surface:
CAE 1176. CAE 1155 WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR OCEANIC TRANSITION. CAE 1316 & CAE 1318 .
I do not know how more bald it could be.
Now if the sub screwed up and launched elsewhere, there is not an effing thing I can do about it.
The warning was given.
Your fascist resident of the White House at work, cowing the US populace with pre arranged START negotiation demo ICBM launches.
That is my best guess.
