Karl Rove appeared on the Scott Hennen Show this afternoon and got asked a question by a listener about the Delaware Senate race and Christine ODonnells claims that he conspired with Mike Castle to undermine her campaign. ODonnell also claimed that Rove was trying to avoid her.
Roves response? He said that ODonnell wasnt telling the truth.
He said that he didnt endorse Castle, that he actually endorsed ODonnell, and that he hasnt been trying to endorse her.
Though, Rove also admits that when asked he said that ODonnell didnt give Republicans their best chance to win the Senate race in Delaware.
Which, frankly, doesnt sound like much of an endorsement to me.
Rove also said that ODonnell added fuel to the fire of rumors about Castle having a homosexual affair with a young man by refusing to condemn the rumors. He suggests that ODonnell might ultimately have gotten Castles endorsement in that race had she reacted differently to those rumors.
Asked about whether or not the Republican party establishment needs to be more reactive to the tea party, Rove said that its the establishment that voted in these primaries and that the establishment is the tea party:
Rove also said that he hasnt said that Sarah Palin is unfit to be President, but said that her travel show about Alaska wasnt good for her Presidential campaign and that she was too busy filming that show to campaign for Christine ODonnell:

That's because the blogger apparently doesn't understand the meaning of the word "endorsement".
We regularly endorse candidates that we don't think are the best chance for winning, because we think it's more important to have a possible conservative win than a more likely moderate/liberal win.
Rove was absolutely correct that O'Donnell didn't give republicans as good a chance to win. As a contributer to Fox, it was his job to offer his assessment of the race, much as people here hated him for it. His assessment didn't help her, but he also clearly endorsed her.
As to Palin, I'm guessing Palin realised that appearing in Delaware would only hurt O'Donnell. However, I know that isn't a popular opinion here, where some people think Palin is universally popular.
Of course, if Palin was really preparing for a 2012 presidential run, the smart thing would be to distance herself from O'Donnell once it was clear how flawed her candidacy was, so as not to get tainted. But Palin doesn't strike me as a person who acts politically -- even though I know a lot of her supporters here claim that she DOES act out of political or other considerations rather than doing what is conservatively best.
Tokyo Rove is a marginal figure at this point. Ironic that Dick Morris turned out to be the real strategic thinker and Rove just a hack. It proves that we need to keep our minds open to recruiting lapsed liberals as they, um, lapse.
Christine oDonnell Endorsed By Karl Rove In Delaware Senate 2010

Christine oDonnell Endorsed By Karl Rove In Delaware Senate 2010 Karl Rove has been attacked, following comments he made concerning the Republican candidate for Delaware, Christine ODonnell.
Rove made the comments as a political analyst on Conservative-leaning network Fox News, where he spoke about the nutty things ODonnell has said, and he concluded, This is not a race were going to be able to win. This drew him the ire of other Republicans, who feel this isnt the right way to go about speaking in regards to candidates.
A different opinion on this, however, is shared by Rove, who says his job as a political analyst is not to be a cheerleader for every Republican its to call them as I see them. In this case, what Rove is calling seems to be the truth, as ODonnell is currently trailing Chris Coons, the Democrat candidate by 11 points. Rove is being realistic in his appraisal of ODonnells chances, judgement based on fact rather than a blind faith, which many Republicans seem to share.
Rove did have some advice for ODonnell, mentioning that she could attack Obama, his policies and his view points. He also mentioned she could be more open about her past, especially regarding her financial situation, which has caused her some trouble over time.
Thats not out of the game, but shes got to make up ground and make up ground quick, Rove said.
Asked today on Fox News whether he would endorse O'Donnell, Rove said, "I endorsed her the other night"
I think you are lying. Rove DID endorse O'Donnell, the video is here:

Who??
Who??
WHAT ARE YOU ALL TALKING ABOUT? Why can’t you face the truth. She was a not very good candidate. She had some good moments, but she was TOO EXTREME for Delaware. Apparently NOT for Delaware Republicans who came out for the primaries, but for everyone else. It wasn’t even close. Why must you all keep lying to yourselves? You really think that if the REpublican establishment supported her she would have won? Really?
Rove has completely jumped the insanity shark with this one. ROVE... you lying, gutter snake,shark-bait basturd!
Fox News needs a barrage of emails to the effect that when his face appears, we turn to the Food/Travel/Weather Channel.
I do.
Goodness know, I am no Rove fan, but he did indeed endorse Christine. Sarah did not campaign for Christine in Delaware and Rove stated Sarah specifically told him that her filming was the reason she didn’t campaign for several candidates, not just Christine. If this had been a lie, I think Sarah would have come out and stated thusly when he made the statement.
Rove deserves derision for his trashing of the GOP candidate as he did, but this post is simply ridiculous.

This is simply NOT TRUE. I saw the show and he didn't just offer his opinion, he rapidly attacked her, then continued again the next day in his relentless attack.
He could have simply said that he thought it might help the democrats and let it lie. He did not stop and was turning red in his rage. The fact that he is still attacking her and making cracks about Palin further proves his "bad" intentions as a mouthpiece for establishment country club set Republicans.
I have never much cared for him and despised him since 2006 when I found out about his pushing of amnesty that cost us the house and Senate. Nothing magnificent about him to me. He is on my personal enemies list and anyone foolish enough to hire him in the future will NOT get my vote.
If your judgement is that impared to trust Karl, then they are worthless to me and cannot be trusted.
Babubabu
I don’t think the ping rule applies to someone who’s been zotted, does it?
I found the post at #23 on Google ....
If one types in “Rove endorses O’Donnell ?” a number of articles will appear on one’s computer screen .
The “ I Hate Rove Screamers” are evidently unaware what an analyst on a TV show is supposed to do .....( analyze )
Confirmation bias. It’s real. I’ve never seen a group more prone to it than those blindly supporting O’Donnell.
I think you’re right, Delaware is a hopeless toilet.
The O’Donnell people are the worst nutters I’ve ever seen, in 12 years as a FReeper.
“Sore losers” doesn’t even begin to describe them.
Where did Karl say say that Sarah told him she was too busy to campaign for her? Sarah endorsed Christine in September around September 9...she was through filming her adventure show in July and August IIRC....
Rove is morphing into a GOP version of snake-eyes.
