Eh, which civil liberty-related laws or regulations that existed then but not today? 0bama decided to keep the Patriot Act. If anything, today there are more regulations and hints of government is watching us, either directly through monitoring our activities, or indirectly through its minions like Google.

I’ve skimmed DU in the past...not sure if it was exactly 8 years ago, but I can’t imagine what she’s so nostalgic about...it’s always been a mix of unbalanced leftist loons and hasn’t changed. Maybe the names have changed but it’s really just a distinction without a difference.
