Aside from the hardened mug of Ron Perlman and the laid-back country rock soundtrack, Jackson "Jax" Teller (played by Charlie Hunnam) might be the single greatest thing about Sons of Anarchy .
Described as "macho eye candy ... Brad Pitt crossed with Kurt Cobain" by The Dominion Post's Jane Bowron (I think she has a crush on him), the club's current vice-president and only son of founder John Teller is at the centre of the story of SAMCRO, the Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club Redwood Original.
But Jax isn't great because Hunnam is a particularly brilliant actor (though he is very good), and it's not because Sons of Anarchy is a particularly brilliant show (though it is very good). The real reason is because he's one of a handful of really well written and acted anti-heroes on television.....
I like the show for the most part but I can’t get over the gratuitous slap at Palin when the porn actress signed in at the abortion clinic using the name “Sarah Palin”.
Why can’t these idiot writers let one pass every once in a while.
This is the greatest show on TV (for now) I never miss a show!
I gave this a chance, saw the whole first season. The term that kept coming to mind was “soap opera.” The pretty boy hero was actually the worst thing about it.
The best thing was Katy Segal. The rest was just laughable.
Wanted to like it. It’s not in the same universe as truly great TV like The Shield.
I remember when Ron Perlman was the Beast in “Beauty and the Beast” with Linda Hamilton. I remember thinking - this boy don’t really need make up for this part.
The “accountant” with two fingers is hillarious.

The surgeon as a biker’s old lady is pretty tough to buy.
“The best thing was Katy Segal.”
Oh my goodness she is GREAT in this show. She actually makes it all seem quite real.
Many of the other actors are very good, but she’s the reason I watch this with hubby.
Segal is fantastic, she can do it all, and she sings too, hubby told me she got her start signing back-up for Bette Midler (I think it was Midler).
She’s like the new Angela Lansbury!
After watching her in SOA I told hubby I’d like to see her play Lady Macbeth.
The best single scene ever was the one when Otto, the imprisoned Son with the missing eye, smashed Agent Stahl’s face into the table. Interestingly, Otto is played by Kurt Sutter, the creator, producer, and main writer for the series.
BINGO!! My wife loves the show, but I found it a poorly plotted soap from he start. We DVR it now so she can watch it while I do somthing like mow the lawn. If I want to watch Hamlet I'll go rent the original not some contrived motor cycle version.

Katey Sagal
Pretty good show. I especially like how they very accurately depict the ATF.
That whole subplot is hilarious. People keep telling me this show is "Shakespearean," and my response to that is, "Yes, to people who only know Shakespeare from plot outlines." It's as Shakespearean as, again, soap operas, which copy only the weakest element of Shakespeare, the plots.
This subplot is like "Romeo and Juliet" I guess. A woman who goes off to become a doctor, and then comes back cuz of the 'bad boy' with puppy eyes is like something out of a romance novel.
This is a show by people who've apparently never met actual bikers (they don't sit around having town council meetings, lol), for people who've never read Shakespeare. It's about actors looking scruffy and playing dress-up in leather jackets and being about as threatening as Fonzi.

Kurt Sutter, creator and showrunner of FX's Sons of Anarchy
Great! I needed a break from spending so much freakin' time in make-up.|

If you want off my ping list get over it!
I think she’s great. After all I’ve said about this show, which I think is awful, I was all set to bail after a couple of episodes. The ONLY reason I kept watching was for Segal, and she is magnificent—that is the word for her. She is like a force of nature. I found myself sitting up and paying attention when she came on the scene, and she is able to play the quiet scenes just as skillfully as the big, broad ones.
I saw her potential in a supporting part on THE SHIELD. I never watched Married with Children, and I was like, who knew?
One reason she strikes me as believably tough is because whenever I see her, I think of how her father died in real life. I’ll leave it up to you to find the info if you’re interested, but all I can say is...knowing that’s how your dad went out has to leave a mark...
