Palin quitting makes her a non-starter for many people for what it implies about her.

It's a meme the Romney folks and the MSM will use, but if she runs I think she can overcome it fairly easily (if not she would be toast as a candidate).

"Quitting" would mean she went home to lick her wounds, much like Dan Quayle had to. Right now, considering her positive influence in the mid term elections, she's clearly in a pretty good position.

She certainly is making things interesting and shaking things up quite a bit.

If she was such an effective House Speaker, then why did she also have the shortest tenure of any House Speaker in nearly 60 years?

Let's keep our wits about us.

Her tenure was entire beyond her control (fortunately.)

She was phenominally effective, like the Hutus against the Tutsi; and just as rational.

Constitutional Representative Democracy at its worst.

She was forced out of office by the rules.

Having said that, in the limited and goofy way he’s using it, he’s absolutely right. Agree or not, Palin quitting makes her a non-starter for many people for what it implies about her.

Your stuff sure gets tiresome, Palin just helped create a historical victory for conservatives down here in the lower 48, and you are joining in with a hard lefty from the losing, opposition party to compare her going national to a Kennedy's manslaughter act of his mistress.

I would expect a liberal to make that kind of argument.

Shields hereby is bestowed the honor of the quote by the great and munificent Bryant Gumble: “What a F...... Idiot.”

I agree with your point of view, but one thing I've noticed quite a bit in the Internet days is that political followers like us sometimes forget that just because we see things one way doesn't mean everyone sees it that way--rightly or wrongly. Palin is a case of people seeing things about her so clearly and so passionately that, I think, they can't take seriously the idea that anyone could see things in any other way.

It doesn't matter that it's Romney and the MSM see it this way--others see it that way, too. Calling them RINOs or robots or slaves to Romney (I'm not accusing you of any of that) is a way to dismiss them, but it doesn't alter the fact that many people see it this way. If we don' accept that and realize it's a serious issue and we have to deal with it, we're in for some rude surprises, as I've seen happen to so many folks on election nights--they were just so SURE everyone would see Obama was inexperienced, and so SURE people would see Harry Reid is an old fart, and so SURE Barney Frank is a thug...

Our own conviction as to whether or not Palin's quitting should matter doesn't change the fact that to a lot of people, it indeed DOES matter.

She resigned and began planning the tsunami of 2010 - where untold numbers of democrats were drowned.

These faery tales will help keep the liberal maniacs warm as they retell them to their bastard children around burning tires outside of decent society when we elect Sarah as our first American president since GW Bush, and they are banished to California, Massachusetts, and other wilderness gulags.

Maybe my stuff wouldn't be so tiresome if you actually read it. I have had nothing but praise for Palin's being a tireless fighter for our side while NO other Republican has led on ANY of the issues that are important to us, from the Ground Zero mosque to being out there endorsing winners.

Next time you try to flame me, you might actually want to know what you're talking about first.

I never said anything Palin did was in any way the equivalent of Kennedy's murder of a woman. What I said was--and you even quoted it, did you read it?--Palin did something that makes people not want to vote for her.

Yeah, that's me agreeing with Shields and saying she's the same as a killer.

You wouldn't look this silly and be 100% wrong, as you are here, if you'd actually read before posting.

I have thought that Palin made a practical decision to quit or go bankrupt. A good series could be made of it.

The outcome of her decision to quit was that she went on the offensive after she quit, and on November 2, a lot of Democrats were singing the blues, and a lot of Republicans were given their first chance to serve in elective office. A lot of Democrats should go to bed each night cursing the jackasses who kept attacking Palin while she was the Governor. In terms of "investment," the time invested in attacking Governor Palin reaped them huge political losses for themselves and huge political gains for the Palin's party. A classic illustration of getting what you wish for.

OK - you got Governor Palin to resign? Are you happy NOW?

I understand what you're saying, I know some "republicans" who have bought the meme already, so it's been effective.

She may not be able to overcome it.

That being said, if she decides to run, I think she does have the time and is capable of putting it behind her.

If nothing else, this is going to be an interesting couple of years for political junkies like ourselves, and whichever way she chooses to go it will be fun to watch and be a part of.

I didn’t realize that clown Shields was even still alive, much less still getting paid to spew his drivel.

Now, I *do* think Sarah’s resignation as governor will be used as an issue against her should she run in 2012. But whether or not it ends up being a political albatross around her neck, it’s certainly not the moral equivalent of Chappaquiddick by any reasonable standard.

Another Fail by the haggard left.

Naw, Palin showed America she isn’t going to play by the same old rules and good ol’ boy methods. She showed them she thinks outside the box and has the strength to take the heat. She told America she’s different from the typical politician.

That may be exactly what America thinks it needs in the next election.

Now she somehow has to get her message out to the average American despite the avalanche of misinformation the media showers on them.
