Jews do not “HONOR” kill their daughters over a slight ... they also let their daughters go to school and receive an education. They are also allowed out by themselves without a male chaperon ... need I continue?
Muslims in Oklahoma could go to New York or Britain if they wanted to live under the protection of Sharia law. Maybe we need to be ruled by the law of the Macedonians, or Romans, or Ancient Israel. Can’t a people CHOOSE the laws they want to subject themselves unto?
As far as honor killings go, if they do it in this country they are prosecuted. No need to get into the arguments, I agree with you, but my thinking is, how can we justify one religious group's rights while denying the same to another?
They should aim higher.
Islam has the same rights under the Constitution as all Americans have ... how many Muslim women have been killed so far in the US and the defendant claimed it was an honor killing? Sure, the juries didn’t buy it but ..... all religions have the same rights but Sharia Law is something entirely different. Muslim can pray anywhere anytime and nobody says anything but to impose Sharia law on American women of the Islamic faith is something very different ...

Jewish council decisions are not legally binding under the laws of the United States, do not claim precedence over said laws, nor are they enforced by same.

I would like to see the new house bring this up as new legislation -This is part of what I see as the role for the "new house"... giving voice to the American people.
They won't be able to pass any good laws over the Senate disagreement and the Obama veto, but they can hold hearings. They can hold lots and lots of hearings. And they can pass bills, bills that don't become law, but bills that show they are not the "party of no" but coming up with real solutions to real problems that the senate and obama don't want to address.
