Just there the barbarians huddle (300)

This is how I feel on this election eve!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFOl-QXpLc4
Long I pondered my king's cryptic talk of victory. Time has proven him wise, for from free Greek to free Greek, the word was spread that bold Leonidas and his three hundred, so far from home, laid down their lives. Not just for Sparta, but for all Greece and the promise this country holds.
Now, here on this ragged patch of earth called Plataea, Xerxes's hordes face obliteration!
Just there the barbarians huddle, sheer terror gripping tight their hearts with icy fingers... knowing full well what merciless horrors they suffered at the swords and spears of three hundred. Yet they stare now across the plain at *ten thousand* Spartans commanding thirty thousand free Greeks!
The enemy outnumber us a paltry three to one, good odds for any Greek. This day we rescue a world from mysticism and tyranny and usher in a future brighter than anything we can imagine.
Give thanks, men, to Leonidas and the brave 300! TO VICTORY!

This day we rescue a world from mysticism and tyranny and usher in a future brighter than anything we can imagine.Let's face it, our generation to a large part inherited the future these brave souls laid their life down for.
We live what they imagined.
I'll be damned if we don't pass on as bright a future for those we can never meet.

Indeed. Civilization as we know it was forged at Thermopylae/Plataea. Each and every action we take has future consequences, some much more than others. Tomorrow is such a day.

If the ruling class doesn't get the message tomorrow, the next set of messengers will probably be peasants with pitchforks. I wonder how many of the liberal elites have figured that out, and how many will understand by the end of election night. Either way, the monster that our government has become is about to face reality.

Indeed. Civilization as we know it was forged at Thermopylae/Plataea. Each and every action we take has future consequences, some much more than others. Tomorrow is such a day. Tomorrow is not the last such day. After our victory, the forces of darkness will be back in a different form, with yet another plausible excuse for us to surrender to them, but with the same goal. Our side must win every battle, without exception. Fortunately, we know that. It's our job to win this one, and to pass on to our children the freedom that our parents and grandparents passed on to us.

My favorite line from that movie - “Then we shall fight in the shade!” as a retort to “Our arrows will blot out the sun.”

A lot of people don’t realize that line was not penned by some Hollywood screenwriter, but in fact, was documented by Herodotus in his account of Thermopylae....just as was the retort, “Come and get them.”
