Stopping Sarah Palin (Erickson at RedState)
RedState ^

Posted on 11/01/2010 3:16:56 PM PDT by roses of sharon

Much has been made of this story about Republicans attacking Sarah Palin and trying to stop her.

There have been some ferocious denials today about it. Many would-be 2012 candidates have denounced it, etc.

Here are the facts: there is a significant, though small contingent of heavily anti-Palin forces at the upper echelons of the Establishment GOP in Washington.

A good number of them are actually Hill staffers already beginning to pick a side with 2012 campaigns and using press contacts to savage Palin. There is also a goodly portion of people within existing campaign infrastructures. Largely these hits are done at the staff level and sometimes without knowledge of the candidates themselves so they won’t have to dirty their hands.

If you want to find out who some of the loudest anti-Palin voices are, in another year or so start checking for House and Senate staffers who have left to work on 2012 campaigns.

Now that you have the facts, here is what you need to know about these same people: they largely despise the tea party movement. They loath Jim DeMint too, but view Palin as easier to pick on. They think the issues being advanced by small government types are ridiculous. They do not like Sarah Palin because they think (a) she is not very bright and (b) she is not ‘grounded’ in the ways of the political world of Washington.

In reality, these people loath Sarah Palin because she is standing up to them, the policies these people have long advocated and Palin opposes have contributed to the mess we are in, and Sarah Palin and the candidates she is backing have largely been kicking their asses to kingdom come.

Between those attacking Palin and Palin, I’m with Palin.

Romney got a glowing write up in the WP today, looks like the MSM have picked their Presidential candidate to go against Obama.

Romney isnt important. But these nameless staffers/consultants are the ones we need to go after. Hopefully names will come out soon.

Romney is only important because he is behind the attackers
on Gov Palin and the Tea Party.

Romney is a coward’s coward.

This pattern was set during the 2008 campaign. Palin names some of the perpetrators in her book. Without her coming right out and accusing them of betrayal, it is obvious what happened and to some extent who did it.

The advice of who to watch for in this article makes a lot of sense, if the information is ever made public.

That's bull, they just say that to play to the liberal media. They really loath her because she stands for smaller government.

" she is not ‘grounded’ in the ways of the political world of Washington. "

Yeah, we know...that's what we like most about her.

The actual translation of their remark is, "we won't be able to control her up here in Washington.".

As for the "staffers" on the hill...will a great number of them not be going home when the Congress changes in January?

The good think about Sarah being so visible all these many months is, they've thrown just about everything at her that they can throw.

They like to say that "she isn't smart". But, the left says that about everyone they hate, or that threatens them, so it has no meaning anymore.

Besides, it doesn't take a genius to be able to read the Constitition...that's why they start showing it to kids in grammar school. But there are lots and lots of Harvard grads in DC that still haven't grasped the document.

Now, you take old Romney. He's purdy, ain't he. I'll be he spends more on hair spray than I spend paying mhy power bill.

Anyway, he is slated to become the MSM's "boy wonder"...but we all know the MSM is hard left, and Romney is not THAT far to the left...but the MSM picks the ones that they know are weak candidates of the RIGHT...so they'll lose. You know, like John MCCain't.

No doubt they'll try the same trick at the primaries of crossing the aisles to make sure Romney gets the nomination. That's what they did to get McCain - the weakest of the lot - nominated last time.

So, you know what that means, don't you? It means the Tea Party movement has to get the conservatives as fired up for the coming primary elections as they have for the current one.

If we have enough conservatives voting for the right candidate, then the left's cross-voting will be of no consequence.

Romney's already shown his skin by ramming through his 'Romneycare', the predecessor of Obamacare. His plan, like obamacare, is a disaster. But the point is this, DID HE HAVE TO PROMISE FREE HEALTHCARE TO GET ELECTED? I don't know, I'm just asking.

This current election cycle has taught us all one thing...it's doesn't matter what the staffers think, or the GOP country clubbers think, or what the democrats and obama thinks...what counts is WHAT THE PEOPLE THINK. Our vote is stronger than all of them put together.

It wasn't long ago that the dems and the White House scoffed and laughed at the Tea party movement...but they're not laughing anymore.

The TPM is in their faces and all they can do is sling worn out words like "racist", and "idiot" at them. When the dems start making up stuff about you, you KNOW you have them on the ropes. Otherwise, they're so cocky and elite, they dismiss you if they're really not worried about you.

This time around, the GOP candidates can pretty much count an MSM endorsement as the "kiss of death" for their chances of election. The MSM has aligned their wagons with the progressive left, and done everything in their power to destroy conservatism..and like Rush said, "Why shouldn't we be angry?".

Well, tomorrow we're going to be singing that Elvis song to the dems:

I'm a Steamroller, Baby,
I'm Gonna Roll Right Over You...
"

Kevin Madden. He didn’t even denounce the Alaska TV station, he agreed with Kiki the dem from Texas that Miller was exploiting it for campaign gains. How can a person with a working brain NOT say those TV people suck?
I think Nicole Wallace too.

Welcome to the real world, Sarah. Politics ain’t beanbag, and you’ve got to earn the nomination. It’s not a coronation.

Wrong lecture to wrong recipient, tell it to the Democrats and their media. The Dems who never earn their win because their media protects them from any and all beanbags tossed...and ALWAYS get a "coronation".

I agree. There are so many “corrupt bastards” its hard to list them all. But they need tp be PURGED. Big government, arrogant, coddled jackasses have no no role to play in saving the Republic.

If the democrats and repub elites WEREN’T scared of Palin, they’d be endorsing her, because she’s be so “easy” to beat. Reminds me of when democrats pretended to be scared of a Quayle presidential run. If they want to win shouldn’t they be HOPING for a Palin nomination? After all, the Kenyan would take her apart in debates, right? She’s so stupid, right? Her ideas “scare” the average American, right?

Here are, IMHO, the two most important money lines:

” ..there is a significant, though small contingent of heavily anti-Palin forces at the upper echelons of the Establishment GOP in Washington.”

“A good number of them are actually Hill staffers already beginning to pick a side with 2012 campaigns ...”

What do these words really mean? According to my Captain Midnight Secret Decoder Ring these two statements translates as people who are most likely to lose their personal power (cocktail invites and pay checks) in 2013 if (when?) the chief Mommy Grisly stomps her way inside the beltway.

They are more concerned about their personal power than anything else. The most interesting thing, according to the article, these people are not our elected officials but their supporting staff of professional office workers.

This makes my personal push of term limits - every congress critter and all of his DC staff must live in the districts/states that elected them for 27 consecutive weeks out of every year more important than ever!

Perhaps. Because she has such a good record of dealing with adversity.
