Is Operation Alaska Chaos working? Update: 56 Senate write-in applications so far (chaos for Lisa!)
conservatives4palin ^ | Thursday, October 28, 2010

Posted on 10/28/2010 7:25:42 PM PDT by Bigtigermike

Apparently so, via Kyle Hopkins at the Anchorage Daily News:

I'm sitting at the Division of Elections office here in Midtown, where more than a dozen people have filed this afternoon to run as write-in candidates for U.S. Senate.

KFQD 750 AM radio host Dan Fagan, a backer of Republican nominee Joe Miller, has been urging voters to sign up in an act of "civil disobedience" -- defying what he calls the courts' illegal decision to allow a list of write-in candidates at polling places.

The ruling is expected to aid Sen. Lisa Murkowski's write-in bid. The idea of the mass registration is to create a long list of potential write-in choices and make it harder for voters to find Murkowski's name.

The deadline for registering as a write-in candidate is the close of business today.

"I'm signing up to become a senator," a man in a hoodie said into his cell phone. An Anchorage woman who said she was upset with the court ruling wheeled in her oxygen tank, asking if she could sign up to run for both federal and state office.

More soon.

UPDATE: Make that about two dozen people.

I'm not sure about the Dan Fagan connection. I thought this was Dan Riehl's idea. But as Reagan once said, there's no limit to what can be accomplished if you don't care who gets the credit. If there are any more readers in Alaska, get down to the Division of Elections and join the party.

Update: Hopkins has updated his article to include the following information:

The Anchorage office received 56 Senate write-in applications -- in person or by fax -- in just 45 minutes, said election clerk Raymond McAndrews at 5 p.m.

Question for our Alaska readers: Are there Division of Elections offices other than the one in Anchorage? If so, how many more write-in applications have been received on top of the 56 in Anchorage?

"I can’t believe the State actually went to court to argue they should be allowed to break the law by providing her name!!!

While it does seem like putting a thumb on the scale to publish a list of write-ins for distribution, is it actually illegal?can you point me to a reference?

If handed one at the polls, could the election judge be charged with electioneering? How about handing out a list of the on-ballot candidates?

I watched the debate lats night but actually, Ole Don Young was the best, he kept me laughing, shaking the dem moderators up with his " I don't give a damn what you think responses " ha.

Seriously Lisa looked awful weak and unnerved at the questions; especially from the no name dem candidate (McAdams I think his name is) The dem tried framing the debate between Joe and himself. He continued to paint Lisa as the go back and forth political she is, ha. I thought Lisa was going to get sick, ha ha. Come on Tongass Kid, you got to concur on this one.

That one Joe said when they asked him if Palin was qualified to be Pres? He said of course, look at what we have in there right now, ha ha. I;m sure everybody in Ak sitting if front of their TV's howled, but the moderators didn't like it, ha ha.

Our road is closed and stuck here along the Yukon, but sure wish I was in Anch tonight to see them all at rally. I have to fly into Fairbanks on monday, celebrate tuesday night. I got both my kids absentee ballots off so 4 votes from my fam for Miller and I got a few of the Indians to vote for joe too. Actually, you'll have some Indians do what the corp says, but just as many won't.

Seriosuly, I have asked half dozen people who saw the debate what they thought and they all said joe looked good and they didn't know anybody around here who was voting for Lisa. Only election signs in our town are for Miller and for our downriver Indian rep in state house DEM Woody Salmon (the only dem I ever vote for). I honestly believe Parnell & Don Young will win big. Miller will win by a few points, but not a chance for LIsa. People are too hot about Obama/Murkowski agenda and know she can't be trusted; ready to give Miller a shot; and he;s quite anti fed to boot; a big plus in rural Alaska.

No joke though, the dem McAdams really looked good on the debate, will draw more votes from Lisa than Joe, it's only getting better.

Lisa needs what I call “the Kenny G.” treatment. My husband, a pilot, told me about getting fuel for his plane once. He asked the fueler, kind of down in the mouth, what was wrong. The fueler said he’d just been cussed out by Kenny G. for not having his plane fueled. My husband said, “well, you can go take care of him first. I’m in no hurry.” The fueler said, “No, that’s ok. He can wait.” After my husband’s plane was fueled, the fueler offered to show my husband one of Bob Hope’s planes in a hanger. “What about Kenny G.?” “He can wait.”

No time to argue. Just outing you for the others.

Facts are facts.

Your porker lost the primary, but she’s a sore loser, a liar, and ever so power hungry.

“If evil prevails” and she pulls out a win, watch her formally turn democrat.

Ak Administrative Code 6AAC 25.070(b) states: “Information regarding a write-in candidate may not be discussed, exhibited, or provided at the polling place, or within 200 feet of any entrance to the polling place”

To: Eska; Eye of Unk

Thanks very much, dearest ((((Eska)))).

That road (AGAIN) and you have my prayers again too. You always come through with the votes for Joe Miller and I’m glad McAdmas did well so he will pull democrat votes from Murky. I think I’m going to be able to see the debate on c-span later tonight in their library.

NOT a chance for Lisa, you say! GOOD to hear coming from you! You and Eye of Unk were right before and I know you guys are right again this time too.

Thanks again for all the details. Take care, safe travels and God bless you, my friend.

It’s about time conservatives started to play by the same rules as the RATS and RINOs.

John,
I am probably more conservative then most folks on this thread and know a good candidate and a good campaign when I see one. Joe was not well vetted and has run one of worst campaigns I have seen. Do I wish the TP picked a much better candidate, absolutely. Do I wish Joe had not been on the dole for more then a decade and lied many times to Alaskans, yes. Do I wish he had run a more open campaign with out hand cuffs, sure. I agree that this is about what is right and moral it is just that a candidate that lies and uses thugs does not come across as Right and Moral. I am not blinded by any candidate and I am sure that the next time the TP picks a candidate that person will be well vetted. tk

Good stuff - hope that list ends up being 100s of names long before all is said and done - and hopefully some people with similar names (Liza Murkowski, etc.) on there. These shenanigans must be stopped.

That’s exactly right - she should have just come back and run again for Stevens’ old seat if she wanted to be back in political office so badly - I mean, if you don’t want to end up respecting the result of the primary, why participate in it to begin with? If she wins this, even though she is apparently just planning to stay a Republican in the caucus, she will be emboldened to stab us in the back at every opportunity - she will literally think she doesn’t need to even recognize the conservatives anymore - not even lip service every now and then. It would be a disaster.

Maybe you’re more conservative than most folks at the DailyKos; but not on this thread and certainly not on this web site.

I’ll trust Onyx’s judgment that you’re a Murkowski Troll.

That’s why she’s sponsering a rally fo him this weekend? Because she intends to throw him under the bus sometime between that and Tuesday? LOL

I have no interest in backtracking your posting history to see if you are what the other poster alledges but that is just a ridiculous prediction.

And if you want to talk about liars, bullies and untrustworthy individuals better start with the Princess first.

Though I find it intriguing you seem more inclined to trash Miller then you are to attack her? Miller is not a controversial nominee among conservatives. O’Donnell is. Angle and Rand have had their moments. But Miller hasn’t inspired much controversy with anyone but oh...establishment republicans?

I wouldn’t say this race is the one I want to win most, but it’s definitely up there just to send a very loud and very clear message to people like yourself.
